3rd test - Headingley

surprised they didn't look at putting stokes in at 3 and bringing foakes in, bumping bairstow 1 up the order

Pleased about Wood, mystified by the rest

Been a very strange series so I'm not predicting anything. Australia are comfortably better on both sides of the ball but for whatever reason seem to be playing within themselves. I've been anxious about their attack every time we've batted but they've somehow barely produced a better display than a team with a 41 year old, a fingerless crock and no pace to speak of

Well he has been

Aye they don't want to make too many changes during the ashes. Shows lack of faith in the squad they imagined they'd be using the whole series. beyond the ashes if he's still bowling shitty 77mph balls I can't seeing him playing a part. I have time to go for a piss and back by time his balls reach the batsmen

I
Aye I know which is even more baffling because the shite balls are being more noticed than the wickets he's taken
Baffled we haven’t dropped him
Wood is 90mph plus
Woakes 83
Tongue around 85-86 (who I’d have swapped Robinson for)
Broad a little slower but amazing bowler

That would have been decent pace and choice

If we are to bowl the short stuff tongue and wood at an end each would have made sense.

Baseball Brook in at 3 signals root will be in at 3.5 again.

I would have moved stokes up to to 3 he’s the only one with enough concentration to be there to be fair other than root who I don’t want to move.

The balance of the batting side is similar IMO. We've changed a batsman for 2 all-rounders (OK stretching it a little with Woakes). Jimmy is a lot poorer batsman than Wood so all in all very similar runs wise on paper.

We certainly have more options with the ball. Wood will be at least as quick as any Aussie, Woakes is an Anderson type and let's face it can't be any worse on current form. 2 spin options with Ali and Root.

I'm hopeful we can make it 2-1.

Robinson has been nowhere near as good as he has been and been cleaning up the tail for a lot of his wickets. He’s a better bowler at 82-84 than sub 80

He has - he's a good bowler no question. he has been below par though and burgled a few wickets. When he's bowling 81/82 he look loads more threatening then when he's 77/78.
I agree I don’t think he’s fit, I’d have played Tongue. Robinsons short ball was really accurate in the second innings mind, was quite effective even at sub 80mph

Don't get Brook at 3 after he was worked over by Starc. Sounds like Stokes is a bit knackered hence all the bowlers and at least we have more variety now. It feels like it will be a low scoring game. I just hope Wood is fit as the Aussies will be wary of him as would anyone with rational mind. Harsh on Josh Tongue.

There's something not right with him
Most of his wickets have been against the tail too. He’s not really troubled their best batsmen. Off the top of my head he obviously got Khawaja with the funky Stokes field and then I think he got Labuschagne once.

Khawaja, labuschagne,Warner,Carey, green twice and Cummins who's handy
