3rd test - Headingley

not sure im convinced with Dan Lawrence at 3 mind, probably a bit bias not that i want him picked for selfish reasons, but would it not make sense to Call up Lees and have him open and Bat Duckett at 3

Bairstow batted brilliantly in the first innings of the first test match
He made 40 odd chucked his wicket away anc his keeping was shocking. His first innings dismissal at Lords probably the softest you will see at international level.

He has given away a truck load of byes. I am a fan of his but he has looked rusty as since the injury.

Think it was 70 odd like

As I said Chops a fan of his but he’s not been right in the series for me. His keeping has been affected badly by the leg injury he’s struggling to push off.

The missed stumping the drops and his not going for the catch at start of the Aussies second innings was the main reason we lost the match. If Carey was keeping for us in that test would of been a comfortable win.

He’s not been alone in underperforming but we are carrying players against the best side in the world it’s why we are 2-0 and not 2-0 up or at worst 1-1.

His runs have in no way cancelled out his keeping but with a half fit stokes we almost are trying to squeeze 12 players into 11.

Think we have gotten a lot right in recent times but have selected wrongly in both tests so far been to stubborn for me.

In the first test he made 78 from 78 balls and batted extremely well, so your first point about him batting poorly in this series is wrong no idea where you get 40 ofd from.

Regarding his keeping total agree that’s why Foakes should come in and keep and Bairstow should play as a batsman and one of the first batsman for that matter.

You actually said in the post I quoted you that his batting has been as bad as his keeping, with respect that simply wrong.

So where you happy with the brainless shot he played in the first innings? No doubt he was brilliant before the injury he look so rusty when I watched him v us early in the season.

I hope he smashes a hundred this week I think it may well be a draw if the forecast is accurate. I think his keeping mistakes have weighed on since his first knock.

This is the problem imo, it appears at times people are more happy with someone getting a battling 30 and not getting out to a poor shot.

I would rather take a fast 80 and getting out to a poor shot every day of the week and in the first innings of the first test when he came to the crease we were in a very poor position and we were in a very good position when he was out.

As I said totally agree with you regarding his keeping and said before the first test Foakes should keep.

But Bairstow a match winner with the bat imo, and should absolutely play in the team as a batsman

If the top 6 all want to get out to brainless shots after getting to 78, that's fine by me.
