The Mortal Hound…

The beer. Just think people will go try them and not return as it’s not very nice.
Fair enough
Been in and got a pint of Space Oddity. Was beautiful.

Place is really nice. Bigger than I expected too cos it goes back over.

Some lovey nuts placed on the table to nibble on too.

Oi, leave some nuts for the rest of us.

Being owned by a micro brewery it was always going to be mainly a vehicle for them to sell their own stuff rather than get lots of guest stuff in. Be nice to see less Beavertown and more Verdant, Track, Deya, Cloudwater etc but the prices of some of the craft stuff has gone mental lately so it's understandable.

I’d like to see more north brewing stuff up here. Love transmission.

Smells like wet dog out the front, and it's decorated like an 80s Indian restaurant.
The acoustics are headache inducing anarl.
Beer was canny though, decent enough stop off joint. Needs work.

Hi, i work with Blockyard Brew co and also with Mortal Hound.

Thought id pop by and say hello and try to clear up any questions you may have about the new bar that has opened in Sunderland.

The brewery has nothing to do with 1 more than 2 brew, we aquired the equipment last year, and Chris the brewer came down for a short period to set up the brewery ready for it being taken over by a new team.
Aside from now owning the equipment we have no affilliation with the old brewery.

The bar is a Micro Pub more than a Taproom. although we do have a few Blockyard beers on its not our main focus and this will vary depending on what beers we would like to see on the bar each week, we aim to make a welcoming bar with a line up of changing beers.

As this was our first weekend, we were focused on trialing what hours suit the area best and making sure the setup for the cellar/bar/sound system and such is right for going forward.

We only had a small selection of craft ales available for our opening as we tested the waters, we will begin stocking more beers as we progress including bottles, cans, cask, and keg, from various local and not so local breweries.

Once we are settled in with our open schedule, we will begin work on opening the kitchen space for making light bites, bar snacks and various other treats for people to enjoy.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask and i will do my best to answer them for you.

Thanks.

Best of luck with it. I’m sure it’ll be another great addition to the town centre.

Always teething issues chief, nowt to worry about. Canny little stop off around town.
I'd say you possibly need some acoustic padding in the back room (the sound bounces around in there and it's a bit claustrophobic), and also a bit lighter decor (same).

Good luck. Anything that improves choice and offers decent beer is welcome, hope it works.

Was really impressed by my visit. Barman was helpful, beers we tried were spot on and the unexpected nibbles arriving at the table were a pleasant surprise. Nice view out the front up Stockton Road too.

I’m still not sure about the signage like and the location isn’t ideal but hopefully it can encourage more good bars to open up on that little strip.

Hope it goes well for you and it’s a success 👍

Nice one mate, sounds promising.

@FReaK You might as well close your account down as you're not going to be able to post the only thing you ever post anymore.
