Leicester forum - Championship thread

Our fans must be the only club who downplay their history.

Leicester are a more relevant club in 2023 they've won trophies in the past ten years.

However they are nowhere near bigger.

You don't hear man utd and Liverpool discount the trophies they won decades ago and they still win things so why do we as a fanbase do it?

Doesn't matter when it happened we still had to win the league it's part of us, if it doesn't count then Liverpool and Man Utd need to reduce their tally's as well

Last time I was at Leicester was when we beat them NYD in the championship under keane and they must have had about 9000 in the ground. Yes they were at a low point in their history and on their way to league one but when we were in the same position a few years ago we had 3x that amount.
Being silly now, there was 22,000 there.

If Leicester can't have a feeling of superiority from the last few years then none of us can.
They've literally won the premier League and fa cup since my bairn was born ffs

This for me - their downfall has been ridiculous.

They were the team that everyone wanted to be, and had a model that everyone wanted to follow. To be relegated less than a decade after winning the Premier League, and two seasons after the FA Cup is shocking.

"We are by far the biggest club in this league, both currently and historically. We also get the best crowds. We should be absolutely walking this league and if we don't we need answers."
Ooooo! As a team who’s recently dropped two leagues & some had the same views as this, there might be one or two very hard lessons about to be learnt.

Again, no-one knows where any team should be looking until the squads are finalised, they might do well, but it also wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see them fade away like Stoke, West Brom or Norwich.

I’m going to guess his thread will have legs during the season.

"Sunderland a squad full of over the hill journeymen, if they have 1 or 2 technically brilliant players we can simply cherry pick them".

"Some big city clubs down there but they're all largely in the doldrums, take Sunderland and Middlesbrough both lucky if they average 18K these days, Coventry can't give tickets away".

I’m sure we could find a similar thread on here when we were relegated from the premiership .. we’ve taken the medicine and think as fans we are a lot more realistic and for the most part grounded ..

Just displaying their total lack of knowledge of the lower leagues. I took very little interest in any other League One teams when we were there and don't know a great deal about most of the Championship sides either. However, I don't pretend I know by coming out with absolute shite.

In fairness there are some excellent posts on that thread, a fair few seem very knowledgeable about the Championship and where clubs are at currently and who is likely to in and around the top 6. A number of posters have commented on our recruitment and that we could well be challenging. One posted his closing league up, Leicester perhaps unsurprisingly are Top but Sunderland are second top.

No chance they're real quotes. If they are then it's total ignorance.

I’m just going to refuse to accept it’s happened. And hope we somehow get out of it straight away. I won’t cheer a goal, I won’t look forward to any games. It’s a living nightmare we just need to get out of it as soon as possible… we need to spend a lot of money and try and build a team that will piss it, and 90% of it will be able to perform in the premier league.

Fulham are a good example for me, they built a squad that got out of that league first time of asking, and then managed to do fairly well this season.

The only way Top can make up for this absolute **** fest of a season.
Cretins, think they are a massive club, bang average Championship club at best

This is exactly why I have nothing but contempt for the Premiership clubs. We often got knocked for a sense of entitlement in League One but we at least knew we deserved better. They have shown they fully deserved to be relegated.
