CC : Durham v Glamorgan

Just to add to the BdL discussion, it strikes me as odd that we signed him primarily as a white ball specialist, yet he doesn't seem to have any of the skills required to be successful at that. Maybe it's just T20 and he'll be great in the 50 over cup... I hope so

Did we though? I’m not saying you’re wrong by the way, just questioning it, because I probably thought the same as you at the start of the season but now I’m wondering if perhaps I simply allowed myself to think that because we predominantly associate Dutch internationals with white ball cricket. It being covered far more in the usual mainstream sources than their red ball exploits.

But for a guy who I think had only played something daft like one FC match before we signed him, he seems to slot right into the red ball side as though he'd played that role all his life. He isn't a big hitter of a ball, which doesn't necessarily matter in this format and whilst he doesn't seem to take many wickets (until today, that is) the one's he does take are key wickets... partnership breakers

Regarding the logic above, perhaps he just needed a fair chance at playing some red ball stuff.

I mentioned it earlier, It was either in comms or on an interview, that North said they had seen in him the makings of a quality red ball player, even though he hadnt played any of it.

so it was on their mind 100%.

they will want him to deliver in white ball though, as said earlier, potential there, the lad is clearly talented,he will find his way I reckon

I was over critical of him in the T20, now I can see its more down to roles than talent

doesnt mean he will crack it in white ball, its just a totally different skill set, why people like Tom Curran n co can do it, but are mediorce at red ball etc

At the Members meeting back at the end of January, North mentioned we were on the verge of signing an exciting young all rounder who was an excellent white ball player and , if he signed, the club would be doing their utmost to encourage him to play red ball as well.

The player in question was de Leede.

I think they don't do any red ball exploits at all since the demise of the Intercontinental Cup (whatever that was) in 2017

DeLeede, in his 1st interview when in Zimbabwe, stated that they don't play any red ball cricket in the Netherlands.

Perhaps. I've been critical of him in the T20, but he's doing pretty well in the CC.

I had another very pleasant afternoon in the shade watching Durham continue to excel. Pity I have to work today

I hold my hands up too, I’ve been critical of his T20 bowling but I think it’s been justified and I’d like to think I haven’t crossed the line. Ultimately, I’m delighted that he’s doing good things for us in whites.

Decided to go camping today instead of the cricket, bit annoyed at myself but it’s purely on the basis I think Durham will wrap this up early! I thought Patel had total control, if he keep doing that easy to rotate the quicks

I fancy Stan to maybe pitch in today

This would be the win of the season for me, with players out and scoreboard pressure

It’s pretty flat and it’s hot so nothing guaranteed tho, only takes few big partnerships to get the draw

aye allowed to criticise people like, t20 is such a short game that can’t just ignore someone going for loads of runs. It’s also the format o care least about tho. And also he will improve like he’s a Bairn.

I’m getting ahead of myself but just thinking a genuine all rounder how it transforms the team. Early days tho, those were the easiest runs he will ever get yesterday let’s be honest. But done a few good knocks now tho.

Sadly I have to be in work today; can't decide whether to try and keep up with the score or watch it this evening after work in a Likely Lads scenario (it's not going to rain, pretty sure of that).

I reckon you’ve got to follow it marra. Crickets that type of sport, people follow it by any means necessary, especially the tests, no matter where you are

Such a good episode that mind

Watched that episode last night on BBC 4 - doubt we'll be having to watch Ballroom Dancing from Vienna at CLS today.

That’s the way I like to do it when I can’t get to the ground.
