We've signed a bowler...

I think it spells out that none of our Academy bowlers are ready to step up.Hopefully just a temporary blip.

Having seen a bit of the 2nd team this season, I would tend to agree. We have several promising young seamers, but they are still developing. We don’t want them being put in too early and getting a hiding, and for their confidence to go.

If we are serious about winning things, especially promotion in the CC, an experienced hand will assist.

Just my 2p worth, like.

Yeah going for promotion and playing safe. Could still be a younger seamer plays as well.

We should play one

We will be playing glover and miles

I think Killeen would be worth a go

Mitch Killeen is playing for Ashington today so very doubtful that he'll be playing for Durham tomorrow.
Raine, Miles and Glover look likely seam picks with Bushnell as 4th. Really big opportunity for Bushnell who has been disappointing so far this season.

I'll second that.

I've seen nothing so far to suggest that he's ready to step up just yet. If it's to be anyone I would say Young Stan.

Shit crack this in my opinion

I know I’ll get slated

We have of the best academies in the country, sort of message does it spell out
If they think he is a better bowler than what we would have available, and are determined to get promoted is that more understandable? Similar to Ali getting a recall ahead of county spinners?

From what I'm told, a few of the young lads haven't progressed yet this year in 2nd xi which is a shame but I'm sure they will come good soon enough. We've already seen Robinson given an opportunity and some are in the T20 squads, they aren't far away. I think this move is a sensible decision at this stage of the competition. Trust the coach I say.

I get it mate. But even if we win tomorrow I don’t agree with it

Not going to complain about it after this thread mind, I just think we have some very talented bowlers and this is an opportunity to play one. It’s the main reason I follow Durham, local talent.

Unfair on Salisbury who was very effective for us that first year
Honest tryer and a journeyman. Nothing wrong with that and as you say did well in his 1st year as a backup but never going to be a regular at any county who want to play in the 1st divison. Its not like he was a youngster whi was on the up.

I’ve nothing in Glover myself marra

Yeah I agree Stan is best I was told he was injured that’s all. I was at one 2nd game this year and was impressed with Mitch that’s all

I basically don’t see a big drop off from playing 1, it’s also how you improve

Not saying they are ready to go

The one positive is we do generally seems to give youth a chance, much like the lad in the 20/20 stuff. I think if they truly thought someone was ready for it, they would pick them, but maybe just this moment isn't the right time
