Bid rejected for Clarke

£15m rejected - I wouldn’t be upset if we honestly did our best to squeeze out every penny - if we can get into the 20m’s it’ll be good business.

Clarke has also had a failed top flight move on his CV already so clubs will be more skeptical coughing up mega money. We should hold out for more than £10m but realistically I don’t think we’ll get much more than that.
I keep hearing this and it’s nonsense. If the buying club is sceptical that the player is good enough then they shouldn’t be trying to sign him. They aren’t doing us a favour as we aren’t looking to sell.

The fact that you don’t think we can get over 10m shows how out of touch you are with player worth and modern transfer prices.

I’m pretty confident Jack will be playing for us next season.

I see people keep saying £15-20m and we'll bite? Really. I can't see it, would that even be good business. Given what we paid, the sell on fee attached, his age, his contract the season he's coming off and his nationality. I just don't see how anything short of £25m with alot of addons even makes sense to us business wise never mind footballing wise.

cause this is Sunderland we’re on about & people are used to us having our pants pulled down regarding transfers

What is the sell on fee attached?

It's levy you know it'll be decent he's nee mug with transfers see the Keano swoop on spurs back then pants down.

It looks like we got a cracking deal money upfront wise when we signed him so I bet the deal was loaded with add-ons and sell on. Don't some of the deals if you sell before a certain period they trigger the add-ons regardless of they've been met? I'm sure the bent deal we had that happened with when we sold him to villa.

Be interesting to know what it is.
So aye then needs to be a big fee if any of it left goes into the transfer kitty.
Hope he stays like.

Hendo and pickford were 20M each.. Clarke's fee should be this plus inflation
Pickford was £30m and I believe Henderson was £18m.

At the time of each sale both Everton and Liverpool were throwing cash around as if it were confetti

Hendo and Pickford were starting regular and were stand out players in the premier league.

A lot of people are really carried away with last year, probably because of the years in league one. But ultimately we finished 6th in a league we’ve pissed in the past.

Clarke was excellent and has a lot of potential, but he’s nowhere near the level of Pickford and Henderson yet. They’ve both also gone on to be in Englands first team, that’s how good they are. Again Clarke is a cracking little player, but I don’t think he’s quite that level.

It’s difficult to compare those fees, because player inflation has gone through the roof since then.
I’ll be gutted if he goes, but would be expecting £20m at least if he does.

I completely agree. But the poster said the fee for Clarke is the same level as for Pickford and Hendo which is nowhere near accurate.

In todays market, at the point of sale, Hendo and Pickford your looking at 40m easy.

Clarke I think 20-25m is fair. I’d rather not sell if possible like.

Only a good move if we can build to better things and there is absolutely no guarantee of that. I hope we do everything in our power to keep him.

Well let’s see.

This article seems to suggest he won't push for move and will only go if we accept a bid judging by his agents comments.
Very positive comments from Harte, I especially like this part - “He’s had 11 goals and 13 assists. Stats don’t lie. It’s his first year playing in the Championship, he’s played in the majority of games and now it’s about building on that.”

Seems to have a very astute, sensible team around him

Sound like Harte is hawking him about tbh. Think we know where the 9 million rejection news came from now.
