T20 :: Durham v Lancashire

Wasn't optimistic before the game as thought Lancs would have too much fire power in their batting line up. Couldn't see one of either Buttler, Livingstone or de Grandholme not rattling a quick 50 up or even more. But they didn't. Top strangling midway through the Lancs innings and they were held back and never looked like pushing on and posting a winning score. Good start in the power play and we were set up nicely, could just coast along accumulating runs which is what we did and won comfortably. Very impressed about the way the team are performing.

Best catch I ever saw live was Garry Park in the Pro 40 at home v Middlesex under lights. Think it was Strauss who he caught. It was a televised match. Strauss hit the ball dead straight over the bowlers head. Park ran an absolute mile from a sort of wide long off and caught the ball mid air, horizontal like superman, with both hands and carried on sliding for ages and almost wiped out Big Ottis who was running in from long on. Strauss (I'm sure it was Strauss) couldn't believe it.... he thought he'd hit it for six all day

Great win for Durham tonight. The Lighthouse seems to cast a spell on the opposition while Raine is bowling superbly. Positive batting from the top order and our fielding was superb. We look like a team now and not an underperforming collection of individuals and we look hungry for success.

Roll on Sunday which could be interesting seeing as how I'm being accompanied by my 86 year old mother whose last full game attended was in 1975 at Ropery Lane watching Colin Milburn bat for Chester le Street and Mrs RT who openly admits to knowing absolutely nothing about cricket. Although she did enquire if 'that Botham bloke will be playing?'....it could be a long day.:eek::D

I hope the lads continue their excellent winning form for your Mam.
If they do, it will be Mother’s Day for her.

Just so I'm fully prepared for Sunday, the music is too loud, people keep going for a beer or a piss, a stands still not open. Anything else?

Just making sure I fit in
Have to be honest three of us attended tonight and whilst the win was great and performance again very good, a few people spoilt our evening and a classic reason why me and the wife aren't big fans of T20. Back row county Durham upper (block near old scoreboard) and this group of lads, not kidding we had to get up easily 25 times so they could get out for mainly drinks, it was annoying and absolutely no manner about them at all, happily shifting through during the overs instead of waiting until a break/end of over. 3 lads sat in front of us second half and vaping constantly without any consideration for people. The club need to open the trapdoor stand so we can get away from such behaviour. Just found it rude and annoying and it did spoil our evening. I've never understood the mentality behind spending £20 on a ticket, not even watching 25% of the game and easily spending £30 on drink. I'd sooner just pay £3 a pint up the road at Spoons. Hopefully it's a bit more comfortable on Sunday.

People are entitled to do whatever they want with their money

Correct, likewise people like yourself are entitled to never attend games. I never said otherwise and me and the wife laugh at the fact these people are spending around £50/£60 to hardly watch the game, I'd just like an option to move away from them and tonight it was limited. I merely said they spoilt our evening and as many on here know I'm not a big fan of T20 to start with because of this sort of behaviour/bad language/bad manners. I'll feedback to the club as it's ridiculous not having the big stand open and the vaping is just disgusting especially in front of kids as well.

Don't go then if it spoilt your evening, you comment on Sunderland games you don't go to, you comment and don't go to English cricket games

1 - I'll go as in your words people are entitled to do what they wish with their money. 2 - if I wish to comment on Sunderland games then I will. Ironically you told a poster on here to "learn cricket" yet said poster attends games and you never do... Bit rich that. 3 - I've been to many English cricket games. Hope that helps. You stay at home with mammy & daddy. It's genuinely no shock at all someone thumped you at the match recently.

Your logic was I don't go to cricket games so I can't comment, I'm going to the ashes at headingley actually if you want to be a smart arse you shouldn't comment on it though as you won't be going.

Their kids run around the stand semi feral too. Like. There was a bloke in front of me who was designated best run for his group which ground my gears

In the block I was sat in tonight I'd say 80% weren't even paying attention to the game. I guess on the flip side they were spending shit loads of money which again is their money but I'll never understand the logic of paying £20 a ticket to then pay £30, for about 5 pints and miss easily 75% of the game. I appreciate people need to get up out their seat from time to time that's fine but it was comfortably 25 times with this group tonight, complete piss take when we just want to watch the game
