Ashes Pressure

Absolutely nobody in cricket thinks recalling Bairstow will be a mistake. Again, you dont seem to have watched England play in the last year.

First name on the team sheet after Stokes, Root n Jimmy
I really shouldn't bother responding BUT do you understand that the recalling of Johnny Bairstow as Wicketkeeper at the expense of Ben foakes is the actual point of contention. And that not a single post from anybody in this forum has been against Bairstow being picked to play.

I just dont understand what you have been watching the last 12 months, its been the best period of cricket I have seen in my life time. There are no negatives, non whatsoever, and you have just started a thread like this!

Don't want to start an argument but genuinely cant get my head round this, struggling to think what more they could have done to impress you.
Just playing devils advocate but think all posters have been impressed with the new approach but think a few have thought we have been to gung ho on occasions.

Personally I think it’s great and take the rough with the smooth and wasn’t that concerned losing that last test in New Zealand as bigger picture is we playing winning entertaining cricket
We won nearly every test we played, the only thing the did wrong was enforcin declaration in NZ, otherwise it would be perfect.
Yeah I agree with you.

Let’s get this straight last year I was the biggest fan of this approach and McCullum and Stokes

Wood is more down to the fact hes our only quick left standing.
Anderson has to be managed.
Stokes, is Captain, could do with him scoring big if his impact with the ball is compromised, always massive pressure on Captains in Ashes series
There no pressure on Wood though. if he's fit he's fit if he's not he's not.

Not by anyone in cricket its not.

Can you not see how mad this thread is though mate? England have had the best year in their history yet you seem to be negative for no reason? Really don't get it. Not really sure what more you expect from them. It has never been better....ever.

I think we'll get it wrong at some point and then we'll reign it in a bit and fine tune.

Otherwise i'm loving the positivity of England at the moment and I cant wait for the Ashes to see how we go against the Aussies.

Suppose I could have worded it more like Robinson. I guess hour Hopes of quick bowling rest on woody.

Dont want to be seeing Lyon and co smashing Jimmy and Broad for 30 odd at end of innings, Couple 94mph Wood Yorkers would do nicely

Yeah all about balance mate, I am sure if they leading going into the last test in the ashes there will be no generous declarations :D

I think they already did slightly in the last test and will make them better for it for this series

You are right mate mind, taking everything into account the last year has been the best year I have watched test cricket and I am 51.

I was confused last year and I am a little bit now why it’s not getting shouted from the rooftops and why everybody not utterly and totally converted to this new style and success.

Not only is it brilliant cricket to watch its winning cricket as well

You do realise that it was originally a post about the fact that pretty much our whole team has something to prove either from a personal perspective or from outside factors (such as Stokes Injury, Bairstow getting the gloves, Crawley media etc..).

But for some reason another poster decided to take it in the direction of it being anti-England and negative narrative/campaign against Englands style of play under Stokes.

Too many threads lately keep getting hijacked rather than posters just sticking to the original debates.

I really hope the mods keep the match threads in check because this series could be brilliant and the threads can normally be relied upon to be both uplifting in triumph or even gallows humour in defeat.

Let's keep things about cricket lads.

Yeah really good post mate, totally get what you saying :D

And hope you dead right with your sentiments especially last paragraph!!

Little old me just wanted to make the point that this set up has been the best I can remember in both England cricket and football teams for getting the players to play without pressure and with freedom.

Which is half the battle in big games or series imo.

What on earth is all this about? We have won 10 out of 12, the team has never been in a better place

Literally stunned by this post, I give up.

Christ. Haha. Foakes has not been treated badly in the slightest. Its international sport man ffs

Possibly the worst thread I have seen in a while. Only in England could people turn on a team who have played some of the best cricket of all time and broke all sorts of records.

We won all 6 tests last summer, an unheard of 3-0 in Pakistan scoring at over 5 an over, some of the most exciting tests matches in NZ I have seen.

Yet somehow the team is under pressure and not performing. Really dont get it.
No we didn't as one of the worst South Africa batting line ups ever beat us by an innings as good bowling and conditions exposed weaknesses in our side.

All the OP has done has pointed out facts and presented them in a way some including yourself may deem negative.

Haha I honestly can’t believe these posts man. That’s the best year we have ever had.

Not really fair that, very negative post after a truley great year for English cricket. How you can think Root, Bairstow, Brook can be under pressure for places after their form.

Well when you get inevitably banned from arguing with absolutely everyone and demanding your way is the only way again enjoy arguing with your wall.
