Better off choosing From Langley Park to MemphisIt's strongly associated with the city of Newcastle not Durham so has the feel of 'let's pick a motivating local song people have heard of'. There's probably nothing similar they could have used but it always stirs the pedant in me.
It's a song about a charabanc trip from Balmbras Music Hall in Newcastle Cloth Market to the Blaydon Races, which were held on an island in the Tyne which was neither Northumberland nor Durham and therefore outside the jurisdiction of the Constables of those counties and rife with illegal betting.

I saw 1 SAFC, 1 Boro, 1 Darlo and 1 AS Roma. Was there for a good part of all 4 days, and it was a decent crowd for a CC game.
So v much in the minority I would say. Which seems to me to show that football allegiances have little or no relevance to supporting DCCC, as has been pointed out on more than one occasion in this thread.
