Probably been done on here before but…

When I listen to the video, am I right in hearing Vegas being sung ?

can’t remember vegas in blaydon races

It's strongly associated with the city of Newcastle not Durham so has the feel of 'let's pick a motivating local song people have heard of'. There's probably nothing similar they could have used but it always stirs the pedant in me. 😆

It's a song about a charabanc trip from Balmbras Music Hall in Newcastle Cloth Market to the Blaydon Races, which were held on an island in the Tyne which was neither Northumberland nor Durham and therefore outside the jurisdiction of the Constables of those counties and rife with illegal betting.
Better off choosing From Langley Park to Memphis 😉🤔⛽

I thought it was around the area on which the Stella Haugh power station was built which was on the Blaydon (Durham) side of the river (pretty much opposite the Newburn Bridge). Is there a map that shows the island where it was held?

More info here. I really must get a life 😂

Aren't some of the players Sunderland fans?

They don't seem to mind singing this song.
Most of the local ones are: Borthwick, Coughlin, Raine, Potts, Gibson, McKinney (I assume, Sunderland born). Bushnell is a QPR fan.
Doneathy also SAFC

Crawley has done virtually sod all to be considered undroppable in the last two seasons

His form is just exactly as before and he will be a sitting target for starc and hazlewood lbw, bowled or caught second slip as long as he is playing

Walking wicket

I saw 1 SAFC, 1 Boro, 1 Darlo and 1 AS Roma. Was there for a good part of all 4 days, and it was a decent crowd for a CC game.

So v much in the minority I would say. Which seems to me to show that football allegiances have little or no relevance to supporting DCCC, as has been pointed out on more than one occasion in this thread.
