He was at the play off final at Wembley for sure
I would be amazed if we did go up if the likes of Patto, Ballard, Hume, Cirkin, Ekwah, Neil, Clarke, Roberts and Stewart weren't part of the first team plan. I don't think anyone would suggest otherwise. It's interesting that of the six top teams only Coventry and Luton don't really play a passing game. Both ourselves and Boro would be more suited to the Prem. As you say it's far from certain that we will make it but if we do I highly doubt a major overhaul. An overhaul would be all wrong. Ya need to keep the team together. That's exactly what we did last summer as well. People complained about the apparent lack of activity last summer, but getting Clarke and Roberts signed on was massive for us. Sometimes you have to trust the lads who've gotten you there, and you build organically.
It could go any number of ways if we get up, but with Clarke, hopefully Amad, and a couple others, you have a chance.
Just gotta get there first!![]()
He might not be told explicitly, but it will have certainly been a conversation when he took the job. It will have been important to the club that Mowbray was on the same page in terms of how we want to play. The favoured 4-2-3-1 has been in place since Lee Johnson. What a load of rubbish !.Doesn't matter if he's head coach or manager, he doesn't get told what style or formation to play.
The football is completely different under Mowbray to Neil, it's a lot more attacking under TM
Pritch has probably just had his two best games of the season. A few games ago I thought he was about done to be honest. To be fair to these lads they keep coming back and surprising you. I think there's a great spirit and mentality there.I've read that Pritchard was a waste of space and that Amad wasn't good enough. I've also read from our own fans that Ekwah was a liability.
I never believe what I read until I've seen a player with my own eyes, after he's had a bit of a chance to bed himself in.
A young lad playing in a below average, struggling side will most likely struggle. Put him in a buoyant, exciting team and he's likely to thrive. We've seen that for ourselves, over the last two years.
It's all about opinions, but the style of play is completely different under TM. We pass out from the back far more and its farore attack based. I highly doubt it will of been a conversation when he was interviewed, they will have already done back ground checks to see he played attacking football at Blackburn and also worked well with younger players. They certainly won't be telling him what style and formation he has to play, as the other poster suggestedHe might not be told explicitly, but it will have certainly been a conversation when he took the job. I'm not convinced it's completely different at all. We started the season playing attacking football. Neil tweaked the system to get Stewart and Simms on the pitch together because it was working. That was an attacking move.
We were a soft touch when he took over so naturally the first job was to shore us up, but we still carried a threat with the likes of Clarke and Roberts. At the start of this season there was clearly an instruction to Gooch and Clarke to the byline and get crosses in earlier. Gooch has actually gone back a bit in that respect.
The one thing you certainly can credit Mowbray with is how he's integrated Amad into the side. But he arrived after Neil left, so ya can't hold that against Neil.
I think we've just got some exciting footballers on our hands and they're fearless.

I think passing out from the back has become more and more of a necessity as we've lost any kind out outlet up front. Same with our corners of late - we've realised it's a thankless task putting balls directly into the box as we simply haven't got the players in there to compete for it.It's all about opinions, but the style of play is completely different under TM. Blimey, are you guys really getting Bellingham? If he becomes half the player his brother has already, you will have some player. Perfectly fits the buy young and develop model too.
It’s alot to do with having better footballers rather than likes of Bailey wright and flannighsn panicking and slicing diagonal balls out of playIt's all about opinions, but the style of play is completely different under TM. We tried to get him in the summer, but Birmingham promised him more first team exposure I think.Blimey, are you guys really getting Bellingham? If he becomes half the player his brother has already, you will have some player. Perfectly fits the buy young and develop model too.
You have to risk the ball to play slick, attacking football.I think passing out from the back has become more and more of a necessity as we've lost any kind out outlet up front. Same with our corners of late - we've realised it's a thankless task putting balls directly into the box as we simply haven't got the players in there to compete for it.
I accept we try some riskier passing than we did under Neil. However I'm not convinced that's such a good thing at times. I would love for us to take more care of the ball. It's rare that a side actually takes us apart with good football. We're often the architects of our own downfall giving the ball away cheaply in daft positions.
No it's more to do with style of play a manager prefers. Batth isn't the most comfortable on the ball but we still play that way. Neils style was a bit more direct than TM style. It’s alot to do with having better footballers rather than likes of Bailey wright and flannighsn panicking and slicing diagonal balls out of play
They played out from the back even when Stewart played, that style suits us because we have some many technical players. The short corners have more come about because of the injuries to batth and Ballard aswell as Stewart.I think passing out from the back has become more and more of a necessity as we've lost any kind out outlet up front. Only out of necessity. We play nothing like we did under Neil mind, and we have also often played 3 at the back
Can’t agree with this point tbf
Playing the ball into the centre of the park, with a couple of git wass bastards breathing down your neck, as we did a couple of times on Saturday, is not conducive to playing slick, attacking football. You have to risk the ball to play slick, attacking football.
You can't not risk losing possession and expect to see exciting play!
I know nothing about the lad, but surely he is not moving home to play for Sunderland under 23s?

Batth is far better on the ball than Bailey Wright etc also we have players that are willing to take a pass in tight spots we used to piss around with it before until someone played another player in to trouble then they would panick and launch it, it was never intentional it was lack of ability and composureNo it's more to do with style of play a manager prefers. I would much rather we played like we do now, yes there will be mistakes but you don't stop playing a certain way because of a few errors. Look at Brighton last night, they made a few mistakes which nearly cost them, but they kept playing the same way and battered one of the best teams in the premier league
Incidentally some of the same coaching staff there were already here under Neil. All about risk versus reward. Mowbray and the coaching staff are obviously encouraging this young team to play without fear.
It’s been a joy to watch this season with some of the best football and goals we’ve witnessed.
Yeah, but do it in the right places. There's a fine line between brave and stupidity. All about risk versus reward. Mowbray and the coaching staff are obviously encouraging this young team to play without fear.

Aye spot on mate, any attempt to play into midfield in our usual way tomorrow will cost us.Neil in particular is often caught in possession against a pressing side.Only out of necessity.
I think we played good football under Neil. We started the season well enough. Nobody had any complaints about the style before he walked.

It's a balancing act. Be sensible about it. Don't do it for the sake of it. Mix it up a bit if you can. There's nothing wrong with putting your laces through it and clearing your lines.
