Derby County officially have been taken over

On the ‘Price of football’ podcast they were pointing out that Derby have been bought for 40mill excluding the price paid for the stadium.

I’m very uneducated in these matters but that seems very steep for a club with 5 contracted 1st team players. If you look at similar size clubs valuations that include the stadium and full squad it seems way off. Not that I know what that means.

I've no idea how we've attracted Hourahain maybe we're offering better wages I don't know. I bet our current wage bill is one of the smallest in league one though, maybe the idea is to use kids, pay a few decent experienced pros and then use loans.

You’ve got what 11 players and I bet it is in the top 10 wage bills in the league already

Doesn't that money go towards paying off creditors? So it's not like some bloke was sat on the club with an unrealistic expectation of what he could make back on it.

I agree that it seems a high price but there were offers in so I guess it makes sense to some people.

By the end of the window I'll wager you'll have the biggest wage bill by some distance if you carry on signing these sort of players.

I dunno mate it's a mystery to me as well. Our budget has been agreed with the EFL, strict rules on contract length and agent fees as well. Maybe it's just a case of a few big hitters coming in, the rest kids and loanees.

I honestly don’t know. But Keiran Maguire on the podcast who is well versed in these matters was suggesting it was high.

Chris Kirchner having issues which were discussed on the DCFC forum when he was supposedly completing his deal- looks like they dodged a bullet there-
Golf Tournaments, A Private Jet And A Red Ferrari: A Tech CEO Lived Large While His Employees Went Unpaid (Forbes)

"A Forbes investigation found that Chris Kirchner, of the $240 million Goldman Sachs-backed startup Slync.io, fired executives after they asked questions about the company’s funds. Now, he’s facing a lawsuit for wrongful termination and claims of “fraudulent behavior.”"

Seems sensible for all concerned. Without this being lifted we wouldn't have been able to pay any kind of transfer fee or offer anything but the most basic contract. We have a tiny squad and probably used less players than any other EFL club because of this. Lessons have been learned, hopefully the club can now start to rebuild from the academy up in a sensible way

There will be the usual dickheads wanting us to chuck money in and try to buy the league next season but 99% of supporters are just pleased we still have a club and are owned by a man who has the best interests of the club at heart.
