Obviously this one wasn't anywhere near as bad as that, the drummer was canny and the backing vocals girls were right into, I just don't think the keyboard player was actually doing anything, mason kept randomly bashing the bongos and he barely used his guitars. Was just weird. But there was plenty people right into it and everyone I know that was there agreed it was amazing. So what do i know

I loved it, but I am a bit of a fanboy.I love his music, his attitude, his politics etc.I also appreciate what you are saying about the backing tapes.It'd be much better with a full band, and seems a bit of a cheat.Its probably to do with budget to be honest though.Tours are pretty much how fellas like Steve make their living now.

The way they did Sometimes was incredible - proper emotional. Not sure about the seated either, mind looking at the fan base nowadays - me included, probably meant half half the audience need hip and knee replacements so need seats!

Anyone at James last night? The first set was something else, second was boring which could have been easily resolved putting one of the more well known songs in the middle.

Otherwise it was a great.

Ducked out based on the ticket prices. I’m at a canny few gigs as it is, but most are £20-£30 territory in decent venues.

Saw the Edinburgh gig, thought it was superb with the exception of the encore. Very downbeat ending for a Sat night - Top of the World. Worse when you see setlist had the option of them to do Frustration instead!

Yes mate it was top quality , the orchestra was top notch and it was brilliant overall , think they missed a trick with a couple of belter songs missing but really good night, seen them once before with an orchestra and this was equally as good

He was tremendous - played pretty much the 4-5 biggies that I wanted (only one I hoped for that he didn't play), closed with the one the missus wanted, and the vocal on What a Good Boy was absolutely off the charts


Frank Turner / Kayleigh Goldsworthy in Harrisburg, PA, next Tuesday - was meant to be Laura Jane Grace as well, which is why we're trekking out there for an overnighter, but she canceled yesterday :neutral:

Frank Turner / Interrupters in Philly the following Sunday with Bedouin Soundclash

Possibly Frank Turner / Interrupters in Asbury Park the Saturday night, but we don't have tix for that one yet and the LJG news might lead to us taking a night off

The Pale White at the Grove, Ouseburn on Friday. Never been to the grove so it's a new venue for me.

Demob Happy and Lizzie Esau supporting. Never heard of the support acts but think they are local as well.

Can't grumble for 15 quid

He played Durham cathedral around this time last year, was gutted to miss that up at a festival. Have seen them once or twice and probably will go

Pop recs have some cracking shows in coming up. Pictish trail, reverend and the makers looking forward to both

That's really nice, some lovely words there.He sounds like Alan partridges sidekick,Simon(Tim key).I think there is definitely a place for stuff like this in music.You have kae tempest at the more angry scale of things.

Are you a fan of pictish trail? I have heard a bit of his stuff,some is good, but nowt grabbed me.I will still go though.He has a good reputation live
