Boro thread

And yet they are 9 points ahead, +19 goal difference ahead, +18 goals scored, with a game in hand.

You are basing everything you say on one game we played where we outplayed them (but we still needed the refs help to take advantage).

Honestly, some of our fans need to step back and think before they type. No wonder the smoggie call us deluded.
Stop speaking sense. It doesn't belong on here.

They're not included within the accounts for the period - they will be included within the year to June 2023.

I'm not sure what you're saying but if you're trying to claim we lost £32.4m last year before those sales then you're quite simply wrong.

I didn't claim that at all.

I'm making the point you made a loss of 20m and when it was pointed out but we sold Spence and Travernier even if those fees had been included you'd have made a loss.

Yet it's being argued by your fans you aren't living beyond your means. Quite frankly I don't know how you haven't had a points deduction as your debt levels are obscene

Because none of that debt is external - it's all to Gibson O'Neill and Bulkhaul as is often the case within multi-business groups.

Steve Gibson is very careful to stay within the boundaries of FFP as currently set. You could argue that those boundaries are too lax and that if Gibson decided he wanted his money back that we'd be screwed and you would probably be right but he's been on the board for 37 years and solely in charge for 29 years now so doesn't look like happening any time soon.

I totally get Gibson won't even ask for the debt back.

However when's the last time you posted a profit not just Boro but Stoke as well

The rules state you are allowed 13m losses a season over a 3 year period.

But I think when a club hadn't posted profit in ten years the rules are a bit meaningless.

Like I said, you can make an argument about the framing of FFP however as the rules stand Gibson takes them to the limit but plays within them. Means we tend to be having a go for a season or two before having to cut back/sell players at the end of the FFP cycle but that's often the way of the world without parachute payments.

I think the set up seems to be changing with him bringing in Kieran Scott as Director of Football to try and operate on a more self sustaining model as Brentford did before promotion.

If we aren't in the playoffs I hope Boro go up. They will be certs for automatic next year if they don't, as would Everton/West Ham if they came down.

Why would they, their 4 best players are loans Chubby will not have another season like this EVER and will probably take the chance of a big pay day and move on. Huddersfield are an example of what losing your best players can lead to in this league.

Three clubs coming down whoever they are and Ipswich will make it very hard for any club without parachute payments to reach the playoffs

Just so I know who are the 4 best players who are on loan.

Not our top scorer or even our second top scorer or our best midfielders or 3/4 of our starting defence because they're all our players.

Giles undoubtedly but while Archer and Ramsey are great but we managed fine under Carrick before they came in and according to everyone on here Steffen is awful so I'm a bit puzzled.
