50k sounds more than I thought a basic net would cost but I’m no expert, and like you say in the grand scheme of things and fact we’re owned by a billionaire it isn’t a lot. However, as I said on another thread, all these extra stewards and police they’ve put in there to try and curb incidents have wage costs. I wonder what those wages cost the club on the extras they’ve put in there recently over the course of a season? With a net theyd not need the extra stewards and police so they’d probably make their money back after a season or certainly two.

its not just the price of the net though is it, it has to be installed and that will require an abseiling
team to get it up to the underside of the roof and they will not be cheap. but still no reason not to pursue it.

Looks shite if we have a net. All the European grounds with them look terrible. Be a sad day when away fans have to watch games through a net

Maybe we could just use it against teams who’ve hoyed something before? Then the next time they come we give them a chance to behave and don’t put it up, then if they do it again it’s back up for the next time they visit. It would hopefully encourage some self policing amongst away followings.

Then other clubs will probably reduce our allocation like we have. Tit for Tat. All could be avoided with competent policing/stewarding.

Musical nets 😂😂 I’d reduce the allocation of clubs who’ve offended this season. They’d then obviously go tit for tat.

That's true mate, but I'd never give my number to someone I didn't know and trust. I'm normally using it for me though. Whether I can trust myself is a philosophical point best not explored too deeply.

If Every away end up and down the country start doing this to combat trouble the away day experience will just become crap.

Meant that more in response to reducing allocation. The bigger concern is more and more clubs netting away ends and reducing the visibility and overall experience. Away ends in Europe are Shite.

That would be some construction, perhaps the club could get the fans in to help haul it up for a burger and coffee?

I'm not saying it will be under the proviso and I'm not saying the away fans being in the SS would mean the sheepfolds development wouldn't go ahead...

... What I am saying is that it will be a consideration of the council. Not the be all and end all, not the deciding factor , but certainly something that will be taken into consideration. The council would negligent if they didn't take these things into consideration.

In a few years time sheepfolds will have loads of housing, entertainment, leisure, construction academy, eSports academy amongst other things, the planners simply won't want 3000 Birmingham/Leeds/Coventry fans and Thier busses plonked right into the middle of it once every two weeks.

The council will want sheepfolds to be successful, and pre match for SAFC games will be absolutely central and crucial to that happening. It's important for the city on a much more wider scale. You park all the away coaches in the middle of it and after a couple of months that area will develop a reputation for bother and violence , and the normal fans (the 99% of us) will avoid it especially with old folks and kids. It needs to become a welcoming, family friendly place for home fans and the decent away fans. Otherwise it will fail

I'm not saying this is more important than the safety of fans, I'm not saying it's the ultimate deciding factor, I'm simply saying it's a big consideration for them and there is no right or wrong answer.

The current set up outside of the stadium is the best possible solution given the infrastructure and layout of the stadium and the surrounding area. It simply has to be taken into consideration from the council and police, who issue the certificate

I know everyone likes to say 'move them to the SS , ITS SIMPLE!!!' , but it's clearly not. And those people haven't got a clue what they are talking about

Yeah, you could go on any message board in this division (bar Wigan and Blackpool, Swansea and Reading’s) and there will be threads asking for away spares
