The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Could definitely be done in 4 months mate
It’s took us 7 months and counting at work to install a concrete barrier into an empty space next to a car park to stop our empty nuclear packages from hitting cars. I wouldn’t be optimistic of even finding a contractor in 4 months to do something like this 🤣

Aye right you are, they are legends like

Is that different to the boogeyman?
But aye let’s not derail this anymore.
Fwiw I actually agree with ya that they won’t put them back anywhere near the south stand just don’t agree with how you put it across and wind up fellow fans on what is a sensitive subject for all

We will agree to move on but I was called a f***ing melt before it all started which kicked off my annoyance when it wasn’t even anything contentious. Just someone disagreed about the SS. In my defence Winston

No mate from what I’ve gathered there’s two, Steve Neil being the safety officer in charge of the stadium and the other is some mag employed by alpha security to look after the queues at the ticket office. The latter is apparently starting on fans every home game and calling them derogatory things.

Ah ok mate...I get lost off with all the mags the club have employed

Moving south stand or what we aside I think the north would be class with both levels full of home fans. Particularly with the displays etc providing the clubs death by a thousand cuts doesn’t kill them off.

No thanks don’t want those stupid flag things anywhere near me or over my head. I pay to see the game not the inside of the flag. Let the south stand keep them if they like them so much

Only reason it couldn’t be would be the concerts possibly? But even so maybe it misses the first game or so, mind im
No expert on installing Perspex sheets 200ft in the air
True but the actual installation work wouldn’t take long at all, the longest part would be getting planning, materials and a contractor to do it which is what the club should be sourcing at this very minute to have ready to go when the concerts have finished.

Where we were sat in the North stand and that pyro was close to hitting a disabled fan and their mum. We felt so bad for them. This has to stop now and the club need to be doing more for the fans safety. After numerous instances now and the club doing nothing to protect fans, I can see a big compo claim coming through the clubs letter box sooner rather than later if this carry on. I just hope the lady and her child were ok and not put off from coming back.
Move them out.
It looked like the person that threw it was escorted out by police before the game restarted. So that's a 3 year ban and a criminal charge for him. It's obviously still not enough of a deterrent and something else needs to be done.

Extra searches will simply not work. If you want to get something in you can, even through airport security style searches. They aren't gunna move fans so the next step is a geet big net.
They will move them. No choice. Or eventually they’ll have blood on their hands. Should never ever have been up there in the most dominant stand in the stadium.

He won’t get a criminal charge as the club and the CPS are just accepting a stadium ban as a plea deal so to speak. Which makes it all the worse. If I chucked something at someone in a pub I’d get a criminal record - why is it acceptable at a football match?

I’m really angry about this situation. The club’s approach is not good enough. It’s about the 10th time it’s happened, and twice in the last two home games. Increased searches aren’t working, as flares will continue to be smuggled in and thrown by away fans. Confiscating coins and vapes isn’t enough as it’s not usually these items being thrown down.

Unfortunately, we are the biggest team in the league with the biggest stadium. Away fans see us as the ‘big day out’. A few hours on the beer or drugs whilst travelling up here and then act like idiots when they arrive (that’s fans of most championship teams, not just Birmingham fans today). If you look at the demographic of the Birmingham fans today, the majority were young lads decked in stone island gear with barely a Birmingham home shirt in sight.

The flare today landed just behind me and it could’ve easily been me or the bairn that was hit by it. Even worse, it was a disabled fan that struck by the flare.

The club/Davison need to do the the right thing, regardless of the cost, and move the away fans to the lower bowl. I don’t care if 2000-3000 of our fans have to be moved to another section of the ground. Safety is paramount and someone is going to get seriously injured. In my opinion, the club just don’t seem to get it or, at worst, care.

Fans in areas of the ground who are unaffected must see the bigger picture here and make their voices heard too.

I usually wait until late Monday or Tuesday and send it. Mostly because I’d prefer to be calm and professional, so do it from my works email account. Also the work phones are voice recorded so anything he says is recorded and admissible in court if I or anyone else need it in the future. Probably doesn’t get lost in a pile of emails over the weekend. Tbf to him he has replied every time I’ve contacted him (must be 6-7 times now). Even if his replies are utter bollocks, full of platitudes and fake concern and promises that never happen.

Was told 3 weeks ago he was going to stop the game if it happened again. It’s happened twice since. He’s even more full of bollocks that than Waters idiot the club employs tbh.

You have my greatest sympathy with your kid being there - I’ve got a girl the same age who was there too (and was there for the Coventry 5-4) and it’s horrible feeling that way around your kid.

Slagging Chris Waters, probably the only bloke at the club worth his salt.

Canny.
