The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

It must be cheaper to hang a net across than to move the away fans to elsewhere in the stadium. Logical, common sense - would appear no gives fuck about these things anymore.

I honestly believe it’s the optics of installing a net that concerns the club. Effectively we’d be the first club in English football to install a net and the club are concerned that it draws negative attention.

They know the away support will moan and eventually the EFL will take action.

Police sorted it out it happened it’s a disgrace don’t move the south stands

So don’t do anything because the Police have sorted it? Have previous away fans not been arrested? Has it done anything to prevent other away fans from doing it?

People have suggested alternatives to the South Stand but surely if it was an ultimatum between moving aways back there or potentially a home fan being seriously injured then there’s only one option?

As much as I agree that we need to put a net up, it’s not gonna stop the absolute gonk set of fans chucking stuff through it depending on the mesh.

If the people searching can’t find a flare, they’re never gonna find people hiding coins or something potentially worse.

Club say back on their arse thinking taking loose coins or phone chargers away was the answer

How can they continue to miss actual pyro at the turnstiles is a disgrace and sooner or later someone sadly will be hurt and only then will the clowns in charge wake up

Davison is worse than Methven

Simple solution. We install a net that can be rolled up and down. Behave and it stays up , first object coming down and youre watching through a net . Tell yer mate " thanks twat " . Word will soon get round clubs

maybe, but you could also, use it as bad public relations, getting it into the media, etc.

Aye agreed, imo the club and Northumbria Police need to come together and be transparent at why they can't be moved and a plan which both are actually going to do to police it.

If they're approving it then there's obviously something there.

There should be a no throwing policy though which is actually enforced which is an instant football ban (at least) and that's both home and away fans as there's been some nuggets chucking stuff at the away players aswell lately which can't be ignored either, it's just as bad.

Here is a thought experiment

Supposing the away fans were allocated seats in the Premier Concourse above where club directors, journalists and guests sit.

And so far this season a bottle, assorted vapes and coins and two smoke bombs had been launched from above.

Do you think we would be listening to polite tannoy announcements asking away fans not to throw “pyrotechnics” and half-arsed ineffective searching of away fans entering the ground?

I suspect there might actually be a bit more urgency in ensuring it stops PDQ.

If we’re keeping a list, we should add in the power bank that was thrown down, the bottle of piss and the dart and that’s just stuff near me…

If clubs on the continent can put a net up nee reason we can’t. Strange again mind I never saw one Brum fan all day except for those in the ground, yet I’ve saw other midlands teams like West Brom with a few in the pubs.

Just like many people predicted the issue has got a lot worse since we started the ridiculous measure of “confiscating” coins and vapes etc

There will be fans antagonised by this and make a point of chucking anything they can.
