The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

how many replies are there blaming the thrower. I will admit I read the first few pages and it was all against the club, how disgraceful they are
Everyone knows the culprit is to blame but there is nothing we can do about that. The club have a duty of care so fans rightly question the mitigations (or lack of) that they put in place..... think 99.9% of posters probably understand that hence criticism of the club on this thread.

I rather think, following any messages seen in the media and following discussions held with the club, they would be liable to claims by any injured party.

Obviously anybody responsible for seriously injuring a fellow football fan by throwing a bottle or other solid object onto spectators a hundred foot or so below would be open not only to criminal prosecution BUT ALSO claims for damages that in all likelihood would bankrupt most of this type of offender.

BUT the club also has a responsibility and some of these responsibilities are extremely serious.

For example under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 SAFC could be liable for prosecution and unlimited fines if a fan is killed as a result of serious management failures resulting in a gross breach of a duty of care.

This could be particularly relevant if SAFC were aware of a systematic safety failure at the ground and then failed to take effective action.

I seriously wonder who is advising the SAFC Board on this issue at the moment.

then let us hear 99.9% posters condemn the throwers. lets us hear them condemn the taking of smoke bombs to the match and setting them off. lets us hear them condemn the throwing of items from both home and away supporters.
people who throw are putting others in danger. They are the ones who must stop this ludicrous behaviour.
some supporters are just thugs

The title of the thread is safety of supporters in the north stand, which is particular to away supporters and lack of action by the club. There have been plenty condemn our own idiots who throw things/tale I smoke bombs on other threads.

None of that has ever happened though. You can't take action for things that haven't and might never happen. I remember I got put on my arse as a 15 year old at an away game at Birmingham back in '83 which was the first time I'd ever been punched! Got up dusted myself down and that was that. It never crossed my mind never to go to another away game in case I got hurt.
I was sitting about a dozen seats from the kid who got hit with the vape, who then got carried out in floods of tears by his dad. So that's one bit of bollocks you've spouted already.

That one incident should be sufficient reason for the club to do something other than saying oh we're going to search everyone.

They've gone with the cheapest possible option, and has as been said previously they are lucky that this season has been good on the field, as pretty much everything off the field is an absolute joke.

Enough is enough. I wont be back now. 3 rows behind is where it landed and I'm not putting my kid through it anymore.

Put the f***ing fans in the south stand where the stadium was f***ing designed for them to be. Fuck the atmosphere in the south stand because I genuinely couldn't give a flying fuck about flags over safety.

It's landed next to a young kid in a wheelchair and it's a f***ing disgrace. I'm ashamed to support this club.

The council have rejected that plan because of the sheepfold development. That was in the RAWA meeting feedback

It's utterly disgraceful by the club for keeping them up there full stop.. And shameful by the council on safety grounds. A smoke bomb has landed right by a kid in a wheelchair.. They've fucked it up now, and there's going to be hundreds not tolerating it any longer.

I’m not in there mate but it’s an absolute joke. Club should be embarrassed

You mean the rigorous security and search operation implemented by the club has failed to work? I don’t believe it.

Disgraceful marra

Can tell them to drop their coins and vapes but some one can sneak that in ffs.

Landed about 10 rows in front of me.

Shambles.
