SOL dropped from Euro 2028 bid?

Aye absolutely if you can’t read the bits above that as well.
Which bits above?

Did you mean that more stadiums should have been named but each one hosts less games? If this is what you meant how many stadiums should we have in the bid?

You raised the point about heritage using Cardiff and Belfast (almost implying that they don't deserve to host games) I replied with why there had to be at least one stadium in each of the 5 nations.

I didn’t raise any such point.

I think all of you have valid points but we're getting too technical here. (Although the technicalities are correct).
I believe its far more basic.
When the rest of the country thinks of the North East they only and blindly think of Newcastle.
Just as when Europe or the World think of England they think of London.
Newcastle always has a subconscious head start in the minds of whoever chooses venues or destinations for anything North East based.
Nope

Don’t see what the big deal is. SJP would have got it for the as already mentioned reasons.
It’s bigger capacity and travel / hospitality infrastructure.
The SOL could hold it easily as demonstrated by its capabilities on major concerts etc.
it’s not really a big deal.

Because the bid was for 5 nations together so there had to be at least one stadium in Scotland, one in Ireland, in NI, and one in Wales.

So the only reason you have really is the ownership of the NUFC. Thanks for clarifying.
The only reason for what?

I didn’t raise any such point.
Sorry you indeed did not. You replied to the other part of what I was saying (as I had replied two 2 people, you and someone else in my previous post)

What I meant in reply to you is that your other reasons (ownwrship aside) are interchangeable and could apply to SJP or many other stadia and cities for that matter. I have still yet to hear a good reason why the SOL would be picked ahead of SJP though.

Last night someone on here reliably informed me that SOL was objectively better but with no rationale as to why that is, I asked for reasons and was not supplied with any.

That is still the question I am seeking an answer to.

Both true...the windows were indeed cleaned and stadiums need maintenance. What upkeep has been done to SOL?

Since then NUFC have announced they bought back the land at Strawberry place with a view to creating a fan park (expect to see this next season) and with the longer term goal of expanding the Gallowgate End. They have been clear in stating a desire to invest in every aspect of the stadium from expansion right down to better food and drink options.

Be class that. Raffles, hook a duck and public beheadings.

All cheered on by the stinking hordes.

It looks better

I imagine it will be more along the lines of big screens, beer tents, food vendors etc.

A tad subjective. One thing is for sure - SJP will continue to improve over the next 5 years. Will the SOL? What work improvements have been made to the SOL in recent times? (A question you ducked out of before) What improvements are in the pipeline?

At present, there are few good reasons to choose the SoL over SJP. Capacity is similar, SJP has had a bit of TLC recently which gives it the edge. Both have potential for redevelopment but one is looking more likely than the other at present.

However, there are good reasons to choose Sunderland over Newcastle though. The main one being legacy. It would have more of a positive impact on the development of Sunderland than Newcastle. And that’s often what the selectors of tournaments are looking for.
It’s a very good reason to choose Sunderland over Newcastle and it could even help the overall bid. I don’t know why you keep ignoring that

Ah back to that again (one of your two standard replies as I have pointed out previously)

Why are you so reluctant to tell me all the great things about the SOL instead?

I believe our owners have and will continue to improve the stadium, the 1st team, the academy, the training facilities, the ladies team, the fan engagement and every other aspect of the club.

In your opinion

Don’t even know who you’re replying to here but of course your owners are committed to doing all that. And we all know why. And that’s the trade off you and the majority of your fanbase are happy to make. Doing the deal with the devil in return for shiny things.

In terms of the SoL vs SJP, SJP edges it on capacity and on recent touch ups. But the bid is about more than that.

Class aye.

Any chance of stopping bombing kids and marrying them while they’re at it?
