Whilst a shame, it has to be a consolation that we can attend games which are, relatively speaking, on the doorstep. Even if they are being held at that abomination of a stadium.
 

Can't say I'm arsed tbh.

What I'm more arsed about is that we seem to have finally got our act together and have started on big plans for the regeneration of the Vaux site, the riverside, the train station and the city centre itself. All of which were needed much more than a few England games which I chance to be at work for anyway.
 
This thread is great. Some of the reasons for being overlooked are tremendous. I particularly like the one about the roker roar.

Think you will find that Sunderland Council owns about 7% and Newcastle owns less at about 6% of the airport, just we are NIMBY's

The world famous roker roar you mean. It will intimidate visiting fans, so the more sedate and sterile atmosphere at St James's is suited to tournaments.
