We have very similar infrastructure to Newcastle tbf. And even then, there is nothing stopping fans staying in Newcastle or Sunderland when the games are the other location.
Is this a serious post? Have you ever been to Newcastle?

Apart from distance to the airport, rail connections, pubs, restaurants and hotels yea were pretty competitive with Newcastle…

So there’s no rail connections from there to Sunderland?

It’s half an hour on the metro from Newcastle to Sunderland, hardly a huge distance to travel.

You think the people travelling to London will only be staying next to Wembley or the Tottenham stadium?

Grown blokes in newcastle dossing around smoking tabs and drinking cider celebrating the fact that the club they've decided to support have won a bid against a rival club they've been brainwashed to despise. What lives they live.

Being a Tory Saudi club their city will get all the government investment in the their city, that’s why they have the better infrastructure

The SOL is desperate for a spruce up ! But let's be honest here (with the Mag) the reason Sid James got it is because of the City and its infrastructure around hotels and bars and restaurants etc. Their ground is falling to bits.
I love the look of our stadium and would take ot over theirs (well yours OP) all day long, but can totally understand why SJ has been chosen. To be honest I'll still sleep very well at night, no f**ks are given, it's not a penis waving competition. . .

We paid for its 'flight' didn't we 🤔 👀
Saudi pr machine too ,few hampers dropped off

Both stadiums have seen better days and need some work. But it's undeniable that the shit tip seats more punters and has better surrounding infrastructure (thanks TWDC).

And as much as it sickens me to cross their threshold, I've been to 2 rugby matches there and would also say its easier to get a pint in the Wongadome. The SoLs catering amenities are frustratingly shit.
We all know what twdc stood for , the wear doesn't count.

St James Park is bigger.

St James Park is in the city centre.

Newcastle has more hotels.

Newcastle has more bars and restaurants.

Newcastle is on the East Coast Mainline.

Newcastle is on the A1.

Newcastle has an airport. ;)

The Saudis have the money to do the much needed refurb and will see it as a sportwashing opportunity.

No brainer really.

We very rarely got england games when they toured the country, can only remember the turkey one ,
You got something else to say?

I think the real reason is that Newcastle has a much less hostile atmosphere than sunderland. Its a lot flatter, and will be a lot less intimidating for visiting fans. And saudi money

I mean St James's Park, not Newcastle. It's quite quiet, and doesn't have the world famous roker roar that will intimidate visiting fans.
