Ah right, so contact patch not any part of the tyre. Close as you say"must be stationary at its allocated grid box with no part of the contact patch of its front tyres outside of the lines (front and sides) at the time of the start signal".
So as long as the tyre that's touching the ground isn't over the line he is ok, it's mighty close.
