We have new releases this week from 100 Gecs, Black Honey, Genevieve Artadi. M83 (the full album), Runnner, T-Pain, U2 (re-recordings of songs from across their career), Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Yves Tumor, Blank Gloss, Emiliana Torrini & the Colorist Orchestra, Ailbhe Reddy and Death & Vanilla.
That’s a cracking lineup this week:
-Yves Tumor
- Unknown Mortal Orchestra
- deathcrash
All must listen tos.
Really enjoyed Lichen Slow after Arkle’s glowing recommendation.
On a side note I’m off to watch Meet Me In The Bathroom this evening exploring the emerging New York music scene in the 2000s. Should be good.
Enjoyed lichen slow and looking forward to Yves TumorThey're the three highlights for me along with Death & Vanilla.
I'd like to see Meet Me in the Bathroom as I enjoyed the book and it makes Ryan Adams come across as a twat.
I love them and their recent performance at Boilershop was magnificent. Is it just me that doesn’t really get Young Fathers? Never gone back to anything I’ve listened to by them.
Top 5 most played new albums this year
1. Free range - practice
Been on my rotation since it was released, gorgeous songs. Chigaco singer in the vein of Bridgers dacus etc. outstanding.
2. Jen cloher- I am the river, the river is me
By far her best album. Māori influenced, indie type stuff. Big surprise how good it is.
3.Steve mason - brothers and sisters
my least favourite of his last 3 but still great. Very anthemic, almost screamadelica. Love the 3 openers.
4.Sunny war - anarchist gospel
Nice song variation, and is there a more catchy track this year than ‘no reason’
5.Gaz Coombes - turn the car around..
Not keen on his previous stuff but this is a big step up. Don’t say it’s over![]()
Thought deathcrash is a bit dull to be honest, it's very one paced. Not grabbing me on first few listens.deathcrash is great
Also enjoy Flyying Colours and Emiliana Torrini
Yeah bit of a let down for me too but I’ve only give it a full play through once.Thought deathcrash is a bit dull to be honest, it's very one paced. Not grabbing me on first few listens.
The video of the Bush Hall gig(s) is on their Youtube page. Not convinced by any of the new stuff I've heard, think it's very average.Pffff what do you lot know?
Seems like a BC,NR live album (new tracks) out Friday
