WELCOME TO SUNDERLAND...

The iconic lettering at the back of the Fulwell live long in my memory.
What are the chances of reuniting all of the original letters and putting them along the back of the south or east stand?... it'd look class like.
I hated it and it was only put up in the first place after Bowie called us Newcastle!

I'm all for bringing back the Hummel tops, best we've had in my opinion.
The quality is supposed to be horrendous these days and Bristol City have had to start using next seasons kit now because hummel don't have a UK supplier anymore.

Sounds class that mate aye

It was iconic at the time but that lettering would look awful anywhere on the Stadium of Light.
The club perhaps missed a trick in not incorporating the Roker main stand Leitch latticework into the SoL's superstructure when it was built. That could have looked superb...rather than a small section of it slowly deteriorating in the Main Stand car park.
Never iconic. Piece of cheap tat that was used by the city council in the Sunderland Illuminations along the sea front and given to Bob Murray who put it at the back of the Fulwell End in the 90’s.
You are correct about the Leitch latticework but the fact is SAFC/Murray at the time disregarded a lot of historical artefacts associated with Roker Park when we moved to the SOL in 1997. I know of one SAFCSA member at the time of the move who saved a skip full of fantastic material that some idiots at the club at the time had decided to just throw away as though our history counted for nothing. Personally I think it’s disgraceful that a club of our historical standing has never had its own museum built at the SOL and well done to the people who run the Fans Museum but what happens to everything that charity have if it ever gets disbanded?
Said for ages that SAFC should have a huge museum/club shop/sports bar/ticket office on the land opposite where Black Cat House stands.

Get your point , but think it would look dated now.

It’s like a shit version of lettering above Woolworths they used to have.

Wrong. Given to the club by the city council when they stopped the sea front illuminations. Piece of absolute tat just like that stupid scoreboard in the half size Roker End with stupid tanks saying Attack Attack Attack! FFS!

Should do so with that vacant garage.

Excellent post 👍.

I believe the vacant garage is earmarked to become an EA Sports competition venue or something to that effect, opening Summer 2023?
