Mogga

I am struggling to see why the negativity towards Mowbray, hes got no options.

Here's a scenario that shows how ridiculous the situation he is in.

Mowbray and the coaching team have watched the last 4 Norwich games and can see that playing 2 Strikers is the perfect tactic as their defence is slow and easily turned. Who does he pick that does that naturally?
Its also noted that they break fast through 2 quick Midfielders operating behind a central Striker, which 2 Defensive Midfielders does he pick that their natural game is to sit in front of the back 4 and prevent that?

The answer is none as we have 4 Central Midfielders that want to play as Number 8's, 1 Striker that doesnt run the channels and never has in his career.

So he then has to attempt to find the Square Pegs to fit the Round holes. Some games it might work and the players may adapt, some games when the going is getting tough and they arent playing well will want to revert to what they are good at.
Excellent post mate, he said before the transfer window what we needed especially with the injuries we had, he was completely ignored.

He has done a great job, he will be here next season and any slide we are are having and will likely continue to have is not his doing, its recruitment shafting him.

Seriously?

It staggers me that some fans cannot see how much we are behind fitness wise, and that it is the main reason we lost our last 3 games, as we were completely out run.

Both do Stewart’s injuries are fatigue injuries, so almost certainly caused by overworking him. Funny how he never got injured under Neil’s fitness and recuperation regime

So were we unfit against QPR and Reading?

Coventry? We had the better of the second half and had circa 70% possession.

Can you tell me with certainty how Stewart and Evan's injuries are from fatigue? It's total guesswork, unless you're a doctor and have hands on experience of this sort of thing?

Good with the young lads - which fits our ‘model’
He’s cheap
He won’t challenge the board decisions/ transfer policies
A reasonably likeable bloke

So he’ll be here next season

I think Mowbray is the ideal man for the club owners at the moment and his quick appointment following Alex Neil’s departure seemed almost like it had been pre-arranged.

He ticks so many boxes that if a computer was asked to select a perfect manager for the club based on our model / expectations it would come up with the name of Tony Mowbray.

Safe pair of hands as an experienced championship manager ✅

Has a reputation of developing young players ✅

Has good contacts with premier league clubs who trust him to do right by loanees ✅

Lives nearby and won’t be looking for jobs nearer home ✅

Not too ambitious and happy to work within the parameters of staying in the league as the seasons target ✅

Despite knowing he won’t be given the tools to aspire to a higher more ambitious target, won’t rock the boat ✅

He’s done better than I expected and while I don’t see any radical tactical nous or inspiring in game management he’s going to achieve the seasons aim.

If and hopefully when we decide it’s time to have a genuine attempt at promotion I think
a more forceful personality might be required.

Someone not afraid to confront failures by the recruitment team and to demand a balanced squad where injuries to key players are seen as disappointing not catastrophic because squad depth allows competent back ups in all areas

If we don't make the right signings to progress, I wouldn't blame him if he walks. The recruitment team will be entirely responsible for his staying or going, and the neglect they've shown over signing another striker doesn't fill me with confidence.

He just completely makes it up to back his own argument.

Said this morning he doesn’t have players in ice baths or having massages he just sends them home to recover.

Complete and utter horseshit as usual from him.

I’ll be absolutely honest here, I don’t think he will.

I said that a while ago, whilst things were still rosey. He was brought in as a quick fix after Neil left. They realised they took too long in the previous appointment. I genuinely think that the plan was for him to see the season out whilst we bring in someone else.

Definitely.

Suits the hierarchy because he won’t rock the boat and has a reputation for developing young players - which is pretty much all he’ll get.

He’s done a very good job and you have to feel for him the way he’s been shafted since January

How much of that is his fault for not rocking the boat though? I think given where we were mid-January he could probably have pressured the club to bring someone in if he’d wanted to. Even a “Plan B” big lump.

You can’t go along willingly with the notion of not singing players who don’t fit perfectly, then a few weeks later complain you weren’t given the right tools.

Not a chance. He was already in and around the club. He will be part of the furniture because he won’t give them any grief about spending.
