Kicked off SAFC land for protesting against digital

Again though, it's not compulsory to buy things through apps.

The complaint that older people won't be able to manage doesn't totally wash with me.
Silver surfers spend more time on the internet than teenagers.

They're 2 different things though. And is a bigger problem than you obviously think.
As an example
My dad only has an old style Nokia
Mam has a smartphone but doesn't know how to use it beyond phone, texts & photos
My 2 inlaws both have smart phones, neither no how to use them
The couple of oldies who are in our match group, 1 doesn't have a smart phone, the other does but doesn't know how to use it.

In fact I can't think of any older folk I know, who actually do know how to use smart phones.

NFC Season Tickets

What if I do not have a smart device?

If you don’t have a smart device (iPhone, Apple Watch, Android Phone, or smartwatch), you can send your email containing the link to your digital season ticket to a friend or family member you are attending with, who can download the ticket onto their phone and enter with you.
The Club is also conscious that some digital season ticket holders may not have access to a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) and we will work with you to provide a solution on a case-by-case basis to ensure no supporter is excluded from the 2023-24 renewal or purchase process.

If you do not have access to a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), please visit the Stadium of Light ticket office following the renewal period, email [email protected], or contact your local supporters’ branch, who will liaise with the Club directly to ensure you additional support.

Can I enter the stadium with a screenshot of my digital season ticket?

No, as digital season tickets utilise NFC technology and not barcode functionality.

Therefore, a screenshot of your digital season ticket or the email confirming your digital season ticket WILL NOT permit you entry to the stadium on a matchday.

You need to download your digital season ticket from the link in your booking confirmation email.

I have my child’s digital season ticket and my digital season ticket on my phone. How do we enter the turnstile with just one phone?

Ideally, each supporter would have their own smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), however we do understand not everyone has a personal smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), particularly our younger supporters.

More than one digital season ticket can be loaded to one smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), although each digital season ticket can only be loaded once.

If your child or anyone in your group does not have a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) with mobile wallet or NFC capability, we would recommend loading their ticket to your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch).

When accessing tickets on your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), you will be able to swipe left and right between different tickets to find the correct one to scan.

When approaching the turnstile, please have the child's ticket ready first, scan that digital season ticket and let the child go through the turnstile before scanning and entering on your own digital season ticket.
Wow so it needs to have NFC too, that's another hurdle it's going tomget to the point some people are just gonna say fuck it I'm not bothering.

No more passing your ticket onto family/friends when you can't make it then.

Edit: actually you can just send them the email then they can add the ticket to their wallet

So the comments from the fans club reps turned out to be a crock of shite & the club are shitting on us. That's 3 from our group not renewing.

Whilst I have a smart phone, I don't have any storage capacity for anymore apps.

Honestly bollocks to that. I've got 79 loyalty points and 20+ years with the same ST but I'm going to ask for an alternative or else I'm gonna fuck it off.

I go out regularly without my phone, it's one of life's little pleasures.

I appreciate I should have put "all old people won't be able to". I get that there will be a lot who will not know what to do, but that's why I said there should be an alternative and the club should help how they can if they want to instigate this.
Sorry like but that's bollocks. There is fuck all wrong with the cards that 26,000 of us have at the moment.

By all means introduce digital cards, not one person is against them. What people are against is it being the ONLY option. It's not right man. One of the stipulations of having a season ticket now being the owner of a smartphone . What's the point ? We already have cards, just let them be used. Absolutely no need to inconvenience 1000s of people.

I think it's something that should be phased in rather than all or nothing. For many it won't be an issue at all, but for the many that will be affected, the club have not helped themselves.
I support them in rolling it out, but I think the way they've gone about it is far from ideal, especially when other options are available.

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

I believe that new scanners are exactly what is coming
why? they don't need them. the current scanners are nfc
You are on a different planet mate. Seriously what is wrong with the current system, nothing.
The app will be recording data on your spending habits etc which can then be sold by the club to generate revenue
what app?

clubs that already have this system allow you to send one off matches to other people with a CRN, and they can download the individual match ticket to their device. it's easier than having to give them the physical card.

it amazes me how old people transitioned from the wireless to sky tv if i'm honest

There’s 4 of us in our group (2 bairns without mobiles) but often I can’t make games and neither can the other adult in the group so we just pass the kids ST’s to each other as and when one of us can’t go as the other still will take the kids.

If I’m reading that right the bairns can’t have a ticket on both our phones so if one of us doesn’t go they are fucked?

Am I reading that right?

Not a clue mate

****ing charging points being installed outside the ground.

At what cost?

I am honestly staggered as to how the club think they'll benefit financially from digital SCs. Madness.

"The Club will dispatch these emails from July and all emails will be sent to the payment owner."

You just know loads won't get the emails in time or they'll be buggy or not work.

To be honest I'm pretty sure (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that Wembley was purely digital for the play off final. I know that not everyone was able to get there, so there's definitely season card holders who need to be supported, but that would suggest that the vast majority will be able to use digital tickets. The main thing for me is that the club need to issue the confirmation that those who can't will still get in, and they shouldn't charge these people any extra

You could simply print off the tickets and scan a QR code. The club is implementing NFC scanners.

If all you do is scan your SC there are no spending habits to analyse. That's the only thing the ticket will be used for.

They know how to access the functionality they need. A Google Wallet is very far from one of life's necessities. You may happy living your existence on a mobile - others, including me, recoil from the Bg Brotherish idea of it.

RIGHT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

This is another sign of football moving away from being a working class sport.

1. Matches should KO at 3 pm on a SATURDAY - admittedly SAFC can not do anything about that.

BUT

2. We should be able to buy a flat pint and a cold burger inside the ground using cash - if we want to.

3. We should be able to access the ground using a variety of means:
Season card
Digital equivalent
Paper match day ticket

4. We should not have to get pelted with vapes by some muppet from Port Vale.

5. The PA SHOULD BE LOUDER!

6. We should look after our older fans who have followed the club for decades and may find some of these changes unnerving.

Err that’s it for now.

Hence from the clubs point of view it makes the whole thing pointless as it was the only reason they are wanting them.

Even if they patch it so you can't reuse the link, surely people could just log into someone elses apple ID/google account on their device? More of a chew on but nothing the club could do to stop you using a mate of the same ticket price/age as yours ticket (or FRAUD, as they see it - which it isn't in most cases).
It really feels like people are whipping this whole thing up to something it really isn’t.

1) the club are reducing their overheads to make the club more sustainable. Less admin = less overheads = more money to spend in other areas

Costs in having to sort out issues with it, on the day issues with phones and the like breaking/running out of charge/glitching at black cat house etc will be huge as well as admin costs in sending tickets out to 10% or whatever of older people who will have to request to opt out of the scheme due to having no smartphone.

Also it mentions about the club installing charging points outside the sol to try to combate one of the above points....at what cost?

It just stinks of something not thoroughly thought through from a financial point of view imo.
