Mowbray

The unknown factor is…. Did speakman have the funds required ? I suspect not. Strikers or no strikers we shouldn’t be conceding as many as we do. Mowbray is bang average mind.

This is a massive fact that seems to pass some fans by. Mostly due to past experiences such as Bain mind you. I understand the anger, I just don’t think the facts are always clear cut.
Like I said it wouldn’t have taken anything to match and surpass what Gelhardt provided. If he’s not ready to play 45 minutes with barely any pressure on him what the fuck are we doing?
Aye, but he speaks English. Mowbrays only prerequisite for playing.

But he hasn't done it, and it looks like he hasn't got a clue about how to change it. We all know what Ross Stewart gave us in terms of his all round play, and we now can't replicate that. Unless Mowbray manages to address it, the rest of the season will be ........ interesting.
People keep saying we won't go down, could not win a game the rest of the season etc etc I've got a horrible feeling if we don't find answers to the non-striker thing things could get uncomfortable. And that would be unacceptable, from having a chance at playoffs to complete collapse would ruin all the good will a play off win and good start to the season had garnered. Momentum is huge in football and I think even bigger for our club, when the north east clubs get momentum either upwards or downwards it's hard to stop.

How do you or anyone else know that? People keep repeating this like it’s gospel. Just because they said they did doesn’t make it true, they talk a load of shite. They may have done or may not have done but no one on here has a clue.
Kristjaan Speakman insists Sunderland's failure to land another striker before the transfer deadline was not due to a lack of ambition or finance. sporting director admits he was left with a sense of 'frustration and disappointment' after seeing his efforts to bring in a suitable high-quality replacement for the injured come to nought.
Our midfield lacks experience mate. When Evans picked up the injury, an absolute priority was to replace him. We didn’t
Our defence was shocking.
it's all a knock on effect. we can have loads of the ball but we inevitably just end up passing it around the back as there's nowhere to go. frustration then builds as everything breaks down with the lack of presence in the final third
We've had chances in all our games.
Weve scored goals in all our games.
That's not frustration when we're creating chances and scoring goals.
I've seen us have many a match without a shot on target.
A striker like RS adds another dimension but I don't agree with players being frustrated when we have 60-70% of the ball and creating 10-15 chances a match

Lihadji made 15 league appearances for Lille in 20/21, the year they won the French Title think he made a number of cup appearances also. He's got to getting game time for us now, looks fast and direct.

Possession means nowt though if it doesn’t lead to scoring goals, it certainly doesn’t win you games.
I agree. But it shows that we're not being bombarded by teams and under the cosh as we haven't got RS upfront as an outlet to alleviate the pressure!
And btw we are scoring goals. Cardiff at home the last time we didn't
Our defence had no midfield protection
Perhaps. It was an absolute shit show.
But our defence with 2 experienced players in were all over the place.

You still only have his word for that though.

KLD, Speakman and Mowbray are collectivley to blame.

KLD clearly hasnt provided enough funds to get a Striker in, Speakman therefore hasnt allocated the budget to bring in a Striker which was the most important position and Mowbrays management of yesterdays game was pathetic.

About the size of it.

I like Mowbray as a bloke but he is a yes man and under this 'model' we should prepare to to see more of his ilk.
In his defence; he can only work with what he's got but the least he should be doing is setting up to not lose the game. Baffling midfield yesterday - especially when you've a perfectly capable Luke Onien starting on the bench..

Anyway, we've too many inexperienced, young lads in the squad atm and I fear for their fragile confidence after that shit show yesterday.

Like who? Simms was never coming back (in hindsight) and geldhart was Speakman's number one choice. Who else were we in for?

Totally agree we are left in a horrific state because of this reason and maybe thats why we have TM in charge as the board and speakman know he will just go with it
He’s not a push over. He ll have a breaking point. He’s more vocal than he’s ever been about the CF situation.

He's equally as big a miss as Stewart. Massively underrated player for us.
It was a combination of things

Poor team selection in midfield from the manager

Not 1 player had a good game today the likes of diallo Neil Clarke batth all poor

No natural striker is making it impossible ATM

Confidence is lacking a bit
Bang on.
Really worry for these young lads confidence.

Fucks sake man!!

That's crazy talk.
And btw , you do know that nemeth came out and talked about what he rejected us.

And probably a few more.
What we've learnt from getting players is that most are under the radar untill we are close to getting them.

Identifying players who have no intention of coming isn't really identifying players.

Have you any idea how much pressure is automatically put on everyone else through not having a striker?
Mowbray fucked up yesterday with that team selection and bringing on Michut when we were being completely dominated in CM was bizarre considering the options on the bench. That aside the lack of CF is causing massive dips in form for a lot of players. CM has nothing to hit. CBs are forced into going long to no one or into a rushed killer pass. Both FBs are struggling. There’s no out ball and we are piss easy to play against.
I only see a pushover when i look at TM,
Think a few confuse being a decent bloke and being a push over. He’s clearly pissed off.

We’ve already shown previously that we can win games and at least compete without a Ross Stewart or an Ellis Simms.

I’m sorry, but the manager and the players are to blame for yesterday’s performance, no one else.

Mowbray has done well overall but in the last 3 or 4 games the midfield has been to easily overrun. So to put Neil in there on his own was stupid. He then brings on Michut for Geldhardt which hardly strengthened it. Yesterday was a lot down to Mowbray. He desperately needs to strengthen the midfield.
Who did we buy to replace Evans in January, asking for a friend?

The confidence looks shot. Gelhardt yesterday was all over the shop. You could see his head drop after a few groans after he fucked up. The lad is just not what we need. Needs taking out the team and used as a sub. Mowbray needs to look at the current system and seriously consider switching to a 433. We need another body in CM as we are being dominated on a weekly basis. Playing Pritchard there should never happen again.
