Midfield
Our defence had no midfield protectionThat defeat had little to do with no striker.
Our midfield was strolled through. Probably the worst I've seen dan Neil play. Our defence and midfield were shocking

So why the fuck does Mowbray not train the players, prepare during the week in our Premier league standard training facilities? It's like going in to battle with the best boots, best uniform, best helmet and no f***ing machine gun.![]()
Tactics. Our defence had no midfield protection
Im not even sure its all his money tp spendWe have the tightest billionaire on the planet in charge of us.
Totally agree but his hands are slightly tied.So why the fuck does Mowbray not train the players, prepare during the week in our Premier league standard training facilities?
It still comes back to this. This is his job FFS!
Tactics.
Gelhardt was stinking yesterday he deserved to come off. If Lihadji was incapable of matching his first half performance then I think we’ve signed a dud.Gelhardt didn't do much in the first half but we were appreciably worse in the second with absolutely zero outlet to even aim for, unless he was injured I've no idea what TM was thinking.
Starting a game with Pritchard in a supposed central midfield slot was ludicrous. Hopefully Ekwah is ready to get involved next outing. As someone else said yesterday, Hume into the middle might not be a bad shout either, seems to have the attributes.
If Lihadji and Bennette aren't ready then he's got to do something like sticking Onien up front assuming the conclusion is that Gelhardt isn't the answer. We can't carry on like this.
But he hasn't done it, and it looks like he hasn't got a clue about how to change it. We all know what Ross Stewart gave us in terms of his all round play, and we now can't replicate that. Unless Mowbray manages to address it, the rest of the season will be ........ interesting.Mowbray is able to train and select someone in that position- he is not restricted to only selecting 10 players...

You’re right, he is short of options. He could try O’Nien sitting as deep midfield protecting the back four. Neil and Michut either side so we have a midfield three, and rotate out one of the wide players. We would immediately be more solid and have more midfield options, but of course could carry less of an attacking threat.Who does he beef the midfield up with?
Ba, Michut, Ekwah?
They're all kids.
What a clusterfuck.
Lihadji has played in ligue 1, played in the uefa champions league and for the french u21s. Madness he's not being given a chance in the circumstances.Gelhardt was stinking yesterday he deserved to come off. He has whatever clout he takes. There are ways and means of being heard if you have a strong character. He is involved in the recruitment process and has a chance to voice his views - he himself has confirmed this on numerous occasions. It comes across that he is a shy little kid at these meetings and doesn’t fight for what he wants - there’s only one person to blame for thatHe’s not a manager. He’s a head coach who has no real clout unfortunately. Oh for a strong character in charge. His press conferences are embarrassing of late, very negative and psychologically destructive-he needs to remember the players will see them too.
O'nien is the obvious choice. You’re right, he is short of options. He could try O’Nien sitting as deep midfield protecting the back four. Neil and Michut either side so we have a midfield three, and rotate out one of the wide players. Mowbray can then see the game and use the substitutes more tactically which is something we haven’t done so well recently.
Our defence had no midfield protection
I would agree and say Speakman is to blame for that -sadlyYou can't set a team up properly with no strikers available.
Why is KLD not involved in this? We have no strikers as clubs wouldn't let there's leave for next to nowt....and it won't be forgotten.
Yes we have no striker, Speakman is to blame for that, but we have defenders and are able to put 11 lads out on the field.
Yesterday's performance was down to tactics, preparation on the training ground and team selection. Speakman does not control those things.
That performance was unforgivable.
We had an opportunity to compete to go up but failed miserably in January to try and sign key players for striking and centre mid positions.I think just getting over the line this season was always the intention, problem is we've done really well and now some fans think we should be throwing the kitchen sink at promotion when we're not ready at all. I get that will hurt some of our fans, but we're just turning into a decent Championship side. If we were to go up this season, we'd fo back down with an embarrassing bang.....we're just not ready yet.
Like I said it wouldn’t have taken anything to match and surpass what Gelhardt provided. If he’s not ready to play 45 minutes with barely any pressure on him what the fuck are we doing?Lihadji has played in ligue 1, played in the uefa champions league and for the french u21s. Madness he's not being given a chance in the circumstances.
