Hyped up places that were crap

You could expand that to any type of Christmas market. Mostly absolutely rammed where you end up getting carried along by the crowd. End up buying couple of pies or gin at double the price you would any other time of the year
Helskinki christmas market was ok ( but dear like they all are and generally i dont do markets) as was santa park . Just santas village was much like santa meets dalton park

We did that at jedbugh castle or Abbey or whatever. She took our money then said you can't go in but can look from outside 😁
We took the kids to Edinburgh castle and they were bored shitless as it’s quite a staid ‘attraction’.

As we were staying near lauderdale we went to Jedburgh a few days later and the jail museum was quite good, a lot more interactive stuff for them.

The Life centre in Newcastle anarl. Dunno what it’s like these days but I took the eldest when he was a kid and was that unimpressed I asked for my money back.

I love a good castle but was underwhelmed with Edinburgh
Sterling is better
Best part of our 2 hours in Jedburgh was ham egg and chips in the cafe

We’ve been past Stirling en route to Loch Lomond (also a bit overhyped) so we could pop in when we’re next in scotchland.

I quite liked East fife although the brewdog burgers in St Andrews were overhyped. And a pint was £6 ffs.

There is nothing canny about Las Americas.

In Tenerife, I stay in either Los Cris or Costa Adeje both of which have their charms and are more grown up. I sometimes have a wander into LA for a few hours on an afternoon to stretch my legs and for a change of scenery. There are a few places which are OK for some drinks in the sunshine but I would never stop there at night as it turns into a 18-30 hellhole in the evening.

Going to the races-i love having a flutter on the hosses, but actually going to the racing is shite. Full of knobs.
Bobby's shop Barmston-i used to be a huge advocate of this shop, it used to have a veritable cornucopia of cans. Not as good choice now, and the prices have gone up. And it stinks of sweat everytime I go in now

A.T. is ok if you visit during term time, obviously a lot of people can’t do that.
It’s sometimes worth paying extra for a priority ticket.
It’s also helpful if you live relatively locally. Etc.
Aye, its a long drive there and back for a day out. Makes the day too much frankly.
And never go in peak season, it is indeed hell on earth on a busy day.
