Hartlepool United


Heard through a player who has been at Hartlepool that Curle is an absolutely dreadful manager.

Completely clueless.

Always quite liked Curle at Carlisle, saved us from going down, progressed every year culminating in a season where we should have really gone up instead of one of Luton, Pompey and Plymouth who ended up top 3. He built a good squad and good spirit once he’d got shot of the parasites like Billy Paynter.

He can only work with the tools he’s got though, was quite shocked at the quality of the Hartlepool players at the away game in October. A mixture of Hartley’s Scottish duds and non-league players who were struggling to make the step up. One thing stands out for me above anything though, that’s the keeper, he’s atrocious, thought the loaner from Leicester might have been in tonight.

The keeper is one of the golden boys along with Featherstone in midfield. All teams know the keeper is piss poor. Hopefully a new keeper who joined this week starts on Saturday.

If anything, he overcomplicates things. He talks like it’s a game of chess when in reality its fourth division football where a solid 4-4-2 and a bit of physicality goes a long way.

He wasn’t popular at Carlisle amongst the players to start with, but it became apparent he was unpopular amongst the lazy, freeloading hangers-on who he immediately ostracised for the good of the team. Once he got his own players in and built a good ethos he did well.
 
The presenter on the Late Look North has just said "Carlisle won the derby beating Hartlepool 3-1".

Nee way is that a derby like!

Morrells pork pies are the best pork pies around. Them and Balmers Mince pies that I had as a kid were both my favourites.

100% agreed. 👍

I love a Morrell's pork pie, hot out of the oven, when the juice runs down my chin after each bite into the pie.

Bizarrely, I was just thinking of Balmer's mince pies, when I walked home from work last night.
I haven't tasted a mince pie like theirs, for many years

Sadly, Balmer's the bakers is long gone, and so is their tasty mince pies. 😪
