denise coates of stoke city fc, (not transfer rumour)

Why don’t you agree?
Owners should be free to spend what they like on their asset.
It was a tongue in cheek comment, obviously impossible to tell that when it's words on a screen.

As for owners being free to spend, I don't believe they should be and there has to be some regulation or it becomes a race to who throws the most at it and that's would be to the detriment of all football

Hasn’t it always been thus?
Liverpool, under Paisley….. “Why buy John Aldridge?”. “Because he can’t score against us when sat on our bench”.

Yes it's always been the way, trouble is now you have clubs throwing hundreds of millions at things, it's not sustainable
Many been saying that for decades as well.
For me clubs spending these sums isn’t the biggest issue. Finding a way to give the lower league clubs more financial assistance is.
Seed the Cup draws for example. Lower seeding automatically play at home.
Add a % to all transfer fees, like a VAT of sorts. All goes into a pool and handed to lower leagues / grassroots. A £50m fee, becoming £55 for example, wouldn’t break the purchasing clubs but that £5m would do a lot of good in L2.

All very fair points, the trouble now is where as a multi millionaire could have a good go at it now you need a multi billionaire.

We have gone to far away from where football should be imo

I agree. Sadly that happened 10-15 years ago. I actually have very little interest these days to be honest. I watch Premier League games as they are on here in the early mornings and there is nothing else to do in the arse end of SE Texas.
The last Newcastle game I put on was away to Leicester. I turned it off to read a book instead.

I tend to have it on on the background and do enjoy the odd game, found myself watching a Brighton or Brentford game over the so called star games as I like how they play the game.

I do t know how it's done but a proper reset wouldn't be a bad thing imo

I would agree but only after we win something. Anything will do. 😁

Reminds me of the saying…how do you become a millionaire. Start off as a billionaire and buy a football club.

Definitely not sir!
I remember watching it shortly after it was released. I don't think I'd seen anything else at that stage that had offered such raw realism. Excellent acting, too. I always thought Mick Ford (Archer, the intellectual) would go on to be a big star. He was in another thing on telly called The Knowledge that was good but then he went off my radar. I've a feeling he might have gone down the writing track rather than continuing with the acting. Pity in a way because I thought he had a real talent.
