You’re honestly absolutely clueless. He has clearly said now it’s the “normal” fan areas where they have taken off the bits that made it feel Sunderland and replaced it with stuff like ice bar etc. Firstly this will in no way attract middle class fans and would also be impossible to have more middle class than working class fans so why make those areas for the middle class. Clue is they haven’t they have just made it generic nonsense

Spot on, I’m def not middle class but fortunate that I could and would easy spend £15-£20 in the ground every game if the food and drink was decent (I currently spend zero as its generic rubbish) …for example last tues night game we all went to Isis bought load of chicken etc few quality pints which easy came to £30 odd quid each. Even if a quarter of the people attending spent £20 in the ground that’s a potential £180k of revenue we are missing out on every game.

I always go in the victory club bogs afor the game then nothing around or in the ground bothers me . Someone could splash a bottle of shitpiss in me fyas and still wouldn't be as bad as the Vic pissery.

Some interesting debate on this thread. The two key points for me are:

1 - ROI on stadium infrastructure is non- existent unless we increase avg attendance or increase the yield per supporter (ideally both). This is a big conundrum for the club, and has been for years, given the demographics of the area.

2 - Do we prioritise playing staff over infrastructure? The stereotypical chicken and egg this. I don’t think it’s as obvious fix the team first. You need maintain an impressive appearance and have good facilities to attract top pros and promising youngsters.

For me, the key issue is that stadium design and experience has come on light years since we built the SoL. We compare our ground, once one of the best in the UK, to Spurs, Arsenal, etc. and we’re miles behind. You’d have to spend an inordinate amount to fix it out build a new ground.

The latter seems pie in the sky, but I can’t see the SoL lasting anywhere near as long as Roker.

Maybe it would cost a few quid to sort out the concourses, but at the moment when we have crowds like on boxing day it's probably borderline unsafe.
They'll need to start looking at opening the access gates and having a fenced off area outside, so it eases the crowd congestion.
Remember something similar at Derby County away and it worked fine.
@Guinness Guzzler any thoughts ?
How's it unsafe?
We used to have those sort of crowds on a weekly basis a few years ago

And it was unsafe back then also..... At half time it's shoulder to shoulder all the way down the North Stand concourse, and the same in other parts of the ground. It's just too narrow for the amount of people down there.

I reported to a steward at the WBA game , that one of the hand driers in the loos I use in SW corner was broken first game of the season and still is .

What’s all this “ middle class “ BS ? How do you define middle class ,? Before retiring I owned a business employing 25 people . Live in a nice village etc etc. Am working class. My son now owns the business , plus he has 2 other companies and he has a property portfolio of approaching 30 houses/ apartments. He is working class. My daughter had a law degree and has a good job working for a prestigious university , she is working class. We have friends who are very well off who frequent the concourse and others who have seats in BCB and boxes. They are all , working class. My doctor is a ST holder at the sol , sits in west stand , considers himself and is proud to be “ working class “ .
Regarding the bars and prices in concourse , very reasonable compared to other PL standard stadiums.
He means the prawn sarnie brigade who I want nowt to do with our club.

Yeah they have asked in these fan surveys a few times for ideas to improve. Every time I’ve said make some of the bars/food stalls individual. So can vaux take a drinks bar, you were in the isis so could that wildfire pizza from there take a food one. A local burger place take one , poetic license do a gin one.

Yes but…
would you spend £30 to stand in a cold crowded concrete area?

If the confessions are franchised what difference does it make to the club what the revenue is (other than at renewal time) ?
