We’ll sing what we want

There were people at the match on Saturday who were not aware of the words. Just because the words were evident to you doesn’t mean they weren’t evident to everyone. The club/player have asked people to stop singing it. I’m not aware of any instance in which a club has asked their fans to stop singing a song before because it’s shit. It is a song based on racial stereotypes, that much is not open for debate.
I can fully understand there will still be fans who arent aware what’s being sang but the vast majority do know and the authorities will definitely know. It’s been all over social media for a couple of months and the FA’s online task force, who are pretty hot on these sort of things, will have known about it almost immediately. Strange they felt fit not to act.
Imagine being so numb you actually thought a player was knowingly dancing in front of thousands to a song about his cock :lol::lol:

Do you just abuse anyone who doesn’t have the same opinion as you? An obvious sign of lack of intellect.

Imagine being so naive to actually think a player doesn’t know the words to his own song!

He didnt until recently. Upon finding out he's asked for it to stop

Sessegnon got interviewed once stating he wanted a song and he'd had one for several months

I always wonder what Benno must think when he hears our fans boo the knee and sing songs like this one.
Benno will be more clued up than most, he's been around Sunderland fans for donkeys years. I always wonder how Matete, Alese etc feel, maybe they aren't affected by it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they hate it.

It’s not racist though. Nobody is discriminating against him or hating on him for being black. It’s stereotypical but it’s not racist.

Why do some people still think a racial stereotype isn’t racist just because they see it as a positive stereotype from their own perspective? Example, being good with money is a positive trait, but we all know that antisemites don’t use it as a compliment. As for Diallo, what if he’s just average sized or below average? How would hearing that song make him feel? Not great I imagine.

English isn't his first language. He'll probably just hear his name. Maybe it was explained to him and he took offence. Stop trying justify idiots singing a song that has a racist stereotype.

I think we have reached the stage that if fans continue to sing it they should be banned.

Ah right, it’s taken him 2 months to find out the lyrics? He must live in an area with poor internet connection! Your story gets less plausible by the post!!

Erm, did you miss the Sessegnon bit? We've got people in the stands when its being sang not sure of the words and you think a foreign player is picking it up out in the middle of the pitch  (the best bit is you actually think he knowingly danced in front of thousands to a song about his nob, and still would if the club hadn't forced him to say stop )

More likely they will have been the ones singing "He shags who he wants" at Hull the day after he was arrested.

Things that are acceptable:

Grooming minors
Racial stereotypes

Things that aren't acceptable:

5 second anti-racism gestures

We aren't his work colleagues though. We are paying money to support him whilst he represents the club.

'I know what will make him play better - singing a song he's asked us not to sing because it has racial connotations. That'll motivate him'
End of thread really
