Driver etiquette

This is the problem with signals to other drivers that are not in the Highway Code.

They are vague and nubulous and open to misinterpretation.
Well there is fuck all else I could have done doing 60mph on a motorway. Only one HGV turned theirs on from about a dozen. Be surprised if one of them weren’t involved in a bump.

I appreciate your intentions and that they were well meaning. I used to do the same but I decided a while ago it’s not my job to influence other drivers.

I definitely wouldn’t as I don’t need to take my test again. I’m going to start moving forward when they haven’t even passed halfway just for you.

It would definitely be a fault. Probably a major fault and thus a fail. You’re not supposed to drive over the zebra crossing with a pedestrian on it.

You’re forgetting how strict driving test examiners are.

I don’t think there is a reason tbh. I feel like I am a good driver, only had a bump in 20 year and can access situations quickly on the road. I drive for a living so I’m on the road 8/10 hours everyday.

If a feel the pedestrian is out of danger and well away from my side I will automatically drive off slowly. It’s not a big deal and I’ve never seen an accident occur because of this.

You say you're a good driver but I think if you'd done this on your test you would have failed.

People speeding up when you're overtaking is another annoying thing. It's as if they haven't checked their mirrors before changing speed.
Or they've seen you and actually want to piss you off . There are lots of passive aggressive drivers out there. The road i use to hit civilisation has very few good passing places for an A road . I tried to find an opportunity to overtake a woman doing 40 for about 10 miles without luck . Came to the one bit of dual carriageway ( about a mile long ) and she decides shes going to keep doing 40 but in the outside line . Flashed to move over, nothing . Obviously i couldnt undertake her as its illegal and potentially lethal , plus i couldnt rely on the slack bitch not to do something stupid .
She turned off shortly after and it was all i could do to stop myself following her to a standstill and throwing some f*cks into her . Again not something i could do but she was lucky it wasnt the type of lad that would . One of the few occasions i would have grassed if id had a dash cam .

Pisses me right off, they'll be doing 55ish in the inside lane and I pull out to overtake them so they speed up a bit. My van is limited to 63mph so I'll be stuck in the outside lane with the prick matching my speed in the inside lane and a driver right up my arse with a queue forming in both lanes behind.
One thing that is noticeable about good drivers.... they don't say that they are good drivers.
I do. 🤔

Linked - but drivers who drive in the outside lane at 70mph and don’t move over are committing an offence even if they are doing the appropriate speed.

Its an overtaking lane.

Similarly, when you pull into the outside lane to let someone enter the dual carriageway/motorway from a slip road and they immediately accelerate to match your speed, meaning you have to potentially go above the limit to get past them and back into the inside lane or slow down and pull in behind them.

Stuck in traffic now towards boro as some tool has ploughed into the back of another trying to be clever and squeeze in at last moment, no indicators or owt. Canny.

Cutting corner when turning right into a side road, slow down and take the corner properly!
Happens at least twice a week on the junction to the royal Mail depot down riverside, doesnt help that cars are parks all over the roads and the trees/bushes are overgrown but so many cut the corner and then just stick a hand or thumb up after.

Heading north on the A19, just before the flyover at Testos there's an exit towards the roundabout underneath. Every time I head that way there's at least one from the outside lane squeezing in before the exit. Half the time they keep going straight on anyway. Why not wait 15 seconds until a few cars have left the A19 and there's a bigger gap? Nee brains.

That’s my biggest annoyance. I saw on that Nick Knowles programme Caught on Camera a cyclist was in the centre of the junction about to turn right onto the road and a woman in a white BMW 1 Series did the same thing but was virtually in the opposite lane and seemed to miss the proper lane by miles and just went into him. He went over the bonnet of the car.

I quite often have to brake quite sharply well before a junction to accommodate this.

Me too. That’s my big fear. I’m approaching a road and a car turns in to my road I’m coming out of and heading straight for me.

How about some Highway Agency or whoever controls the traffic light systems etiquette ?

Switch the traffic lights off at roundabouts when it’s not peak time ffs.

Especially all day Sunday.

This FFS. Why do the lights at the various A19 interchanges still need to be on at night when there's such little traffic?
Also, no-car lane on Durham Road. Sack it off at off-peak times.
