Energy Prices - are they taking the piss???

If you haven't already, get yasel one of these. Costs about 1p an hour. Just sitting on top of it on a sofa keeps you (and one or two others) very warm, obviously wrapping it around you will do the job nicely if it's baltic. I sit with this around me whilst I'm sat working at the laptop all day, sod having the gas combi running all day. We have one on each sofa in the lounge, have them on of an evening, the dog loves them.

£500 a month energy bills in the depths of Winter 2024 could be very realistic for above average energy users, based on current forecasts.
it will never ever again come back anywhere close to what it was a couple of years ago

So what’s the consensus with regards to minimum temperature inside the house before the heating should go on in terms of efficiency?
At the minute mine is set at 18 degrees between 6-8 then down to 12 during the day then back to 18 from 5-7 then back down to 12.
Is this inefficient? Right now its 4 degrees outside and house is at 16 so it’ll have to heat up 2 degrees to reach setpoint.

We are just whacking it on when its cold. Fuck em. Its not worth your health.
Fantastic, if you can afford it.

On the other hand When the prepayment meter disconnects the gas when the credit is gone its tough luck for many.
Got mine on 17 all the time. Takes the edge off. I've always worn jackets, hats in the house in winter rather than have the heat blasting.
How much gas a day does that use, out of interest?

Am I being a complete meth or is there not a simple calculator out there which can show your daily usage and cost? Each one I have seen you have to convert into cubic this and that. You can see your previous meter reading on the app, there should be a simple tool where the user doesn't have to get involved in billing days and so on.

Like I say could just be being a meth

It’s probably costing you more letting the temperature run down so low rather than it warming up 1-2 degrees more often if you keep it more stable
you reckon? been tempted to stick it on 17 and keep an eye on the gas meter. thing is our house is absolutely shite at holding heat so imagine it would turn itself on loads
