Sunderland will face Saudi Arabian opposition Al Shabab in Friendly (poll in Parsnip)

Does there need to be they're saudi arabian ffs
It's a friendly against a football team from near the region we're going, it's not even close to being political. The problem with the mags takeover is that it's the government/royalty who has bought them, the bloke who runs one of the worst regimes on Earth, and he's done it to wash his/their image.

To invoke Godwin's Law: Hitler - bad. Germany - fine.

It's way over the top this sudden hatred for the Saudis mind. Do they stand outside of BAE systems in Washington to voice their disgust? Or refuse to top up the car with fuel?
It's time to get over the Mag buyout, I couldn't personally give a fuck. Their rules are their rules, their stance is accept it or fuck off.
If you protested everything with a link to modern slavery authoritarianism etc you wouldn't be able to eat or drive or go on holiday. Working class folk the world over are living hand to mouth though and have to put their time and energy towards paying bills putting food on the table and making ends meet the best they can.
You can't get away from "funding" the system without living as a hermit somewhere, but when we see working class football culture coming under attack from those same authoritarian elements who have usurped the game, the natural reaction is one of disgust. Your common or garden barcode lacks a moral compass though so they'll wave whatever flag they're telt.

As has been pointed out. Al Shabab have links to the Saudi Royal Family.

You obviously have no morals though. The bae comparison is stupid. We have the choice to vote whichever government doing these arms deals with the Saudis, out.

Don't particularly think it's great PR going to Dubai for a weeks break and light training aside from the game itself given the current economic situation and how this might be perceived by many.

Should have went somewhere in the med a bit more low key (Greece or the Canaries) and perhaps arranged friendlies with local clubs there imo.
And what are the training facilities like in the Canaries and Greece compared to Dubai? It’s not a holiday ffs.

Not sure what the outrage is, we are playing a Saudi based club not the country's regime
People need to double down to prove their outrage at Saudi Arabia and The Mags. They can’t understand the nuance and difference between being ran by a tyrannical murderous regime and playing a team that so happens to be based in that country with no known links to the regime.
