Viktor Goykes (signing suggestion)

Is he good enough for the PL though? Possibly get into a team that's battling relegation I suppose, but I see him as a top Championship player, unsure if he'll get much better.

Brighton didn't fancy him and he failed to score a goal when he was on loan at Swansea, granted he's only 24 and still has lots of time to develop and improve.
Bit like Ivan Toney wen at the scum , who would have thought a loan move to scunthorpe then a permanent move to pboro then Brentford would see him gaining a england call up and move than holding his own in the pre lge .

Didn't think we'd actually offered him one, plus we got an upgrade.
Wigan Athletic have signed Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke on a three-year contract after he turned down a new deal with the Black Cats.

thats from the BBC. Id be surprised if we didnt offer a player some sort of contract after scoring 30 goals the previous season

Aye true

Exactly, I don't understand the whinging. Ravanelli for example. Signed for Boro for a massive fee, scored 16 PL goals but they got relegated the year he played for them, and he was only there for 1 year. Sold him at a loss, 1 year after paying £7m for him (7m in 1996!).

Also worth mentioning that his career was very ordinary after leaving Boro. He peaked at Juve.
He did score 30 goals in all comps and helped get us to 2 cup finals. It was only our total lack of a defence and not turning up for the Blackburn game that got us the drop.

We will have done, but it worked in our favour not signing Wyke, he was very one dimensional and didn't fit the way we want to play at all. We'll have offered him a new deal as we didn't want to lose money on him by letting him go for nothing. His move was the best for both parties from a playing point of view, we lost out financially unfortunately.

Can the mods not change his surname in the title, it's been spelt incorrectly.

if Wyke had played with the likes of clarke, neil, roberts etc, we'd have gone up as well

he won the league with wigan remember

the criticism he gets is mad.

Agreed mate

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think he is the type of striker who won't get a PL move. Think he will be one of those that always seems to play for a top end Championship team but moving for good money by this leagues standards, a bit like Jordan Rhodes or Matej Vydra. Either that or he will move abroad.

Willing to be bookmarked and proved wrong though.

I’m pretty sure I remember reading at the time we offered £8k per week and they offered £10k. We offered the top of our wage budget, it would have made him our best paid player

No chance we offered wyke that much. Certain we offered him less than what he was on. Awful striker
