Viktor Goykes (signing suggestion)

He won’t fit our model for a few years

He will get a big money move to Everton / Villa / Crystal Palace, £12/£15m hang around the reserves then sign for us ‘looking for a fresh start’ etc

It's positive. We have a plan and we're going to stick to it. Not sure we've ever had a plan before.
Exactly, I don't understand the whinging. Ravanelli for example. Signed for Boro for a massive fee, scored 16 PL goals but they got relegated the year he played for them, and he was only there for 1 year. Sold him at a loss, 1 year after paying £7m for him (7m in 1996!).

Also worth mentioning that his career was very ordinary after leaving Boro. He peaked at Juve.

We should be targeting this lad imo still young so fits the project of resale value . I thought he was top drawer vs us first game of the season. Maybe he is out of our budget but would be a real statement of intent
Your right...he would be ideal but im afraid hes earmarked for bigger Premier clubs and he'll be £15 million. Him and Diaz will be in Premier by the summer 2023

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good whinge.

That isn't the model tho
They have never said they won't pay , they said they will look for value for money and a resale value . If he cost 12mill for argument sake at 24 and continued development he could be worth 20mill plus. However on reflection the club structure on wages will be an issue I expect unfortunately.... which at some point will require looking at imo.....

Best player ive seen this season in the league however no way we are breaking the structure for him.
Agree with that - best opposition forward I've seen this season. He's more likely to sign for someone like Everton, an extra forward for them, allowing us to possibly sign one of our previous loanees, Broadhead or Simms. That's where we are!

We couldn't even hold on to Charles Wyke man.

Again you're probably right given our current transfer signings and project but I'm sure if we had a fee accepted and tried to negotiate it would send out the correct signals of our ambitions...
Completely agree, it'd be a fantastic signing and very ambitious. But if we compare it to pinching an upcoming striker from a good academy setup. It's probably 10% of the cost and worth rolling the dice whilst not breaking the bank. Take a look at a Ballard as an example or Alese.
Strange times when a club without a ground is a better prospect than us, 'where we're at' to me seems in no way inferior to Coventry overall even though I'd agree if we were talking about a raft of other unfashionable clubs.
Probably less about standards or clubs being better than one another. If we think realistically about who we're going to be targeting, the main reason to come up here would be to play a part in the bigger project, the fans etc.. If you've got someone who wants to really aggressively develop and play at a higher level, why would you look at the club whose immediate short-term ambition is to stay where you already are?
