Viktor Goykes (signing suggestion)

Completely agree, it'd be a fantastic signing and very ambitious. But if we compare it to pinching an upcoming striker from a good academy setup. It's probably 10% of the cost and worth rolling the dice whilst not breaking the bank. Take a look at a Ballard as an example or Alese.

Probably less about standards or clubs being better than one another. If we think realistically about who we're going to be targeting, the main reason to come up here would be to play a part in the bigger project, the fans etc.. If you've got someone who wants to really aggressively develop and play at a higher level, why would you look at the club whose immediate short-term ambition is to stay where you already are?
Probably get pelters for being negative, but the entire model is picking up younger talent. That younger talent is much less likely to come from the doorstep of the teams you're playing week in week out. They're assets that your struggling premier league teams take a punt on. It's more about looking down the leagues and above into youth systems.

He won’t fit our model for a few years

He will get a big money move to Everton / Villa / Crystal Palace, £12/£15m hang around the reserves then sign for us ‘looking for a fresh start’ etc

Everton, Southampton or Wolves would be my guess if he goes anywhere in the upcoming window.

Everton only have DCL and Maupay as realistic first team strikers this season. One has fitness issues, the other is yet to get going.
Southampton are very reliant on Che Adams up front and seem lighr on goals.
Wolves' striker issues are well documented.

Palace or Leeds could be possible but I can't see Villa spending on another striker when they struggle to get Ings and Watkins in the same team.

Is he good enough for the PL though? Possibly get into a team that's battling relegation I suppose, but I see him as a top Championship player, unsure if he'll get much better.

Brighton didn't fancy him and he failed to score a goal when he was on loan at Swansea, granted he's only 24 and still has lots of time to develop and improve.

They have never said they won't pay , they said they will look for value for money and a resale value . If he cost 12mill for argument sake at 24 and continued development he could be worth 20mill plus. However on reflection the club structure on wages will be an issue I expect unfortunately.... which at some point will require looking at imo.....
His wages and fee don’t fit the model. They just don’t.

To be fair he couldn’t get in cov team earlier in the season.

I'm ganna stick my tin hat on here, where we're currently at and the path we're on I don't think we'll see players like him opting to come to Sunderland vs staying at Coventry. It isn't that I think they're better than us in a footballing sense but they're trying to progress now. Our focus is on becoming stable in the championship. We're biding our time to progress over time and playing through the younger lads fits perfectly into that.

I want to point out i'm not digging out anyone here. It's just the reality.
Love to see new members on here, but unfortunately yes, that's bull shit.
Would be a sideways move for him anyway because of his build and pace he would get a premier league move he’s got all the attributes needed
Totally agree. Gonna have his work cut out dislodging Woods and Wilson.

Just like Diaz at Blackburn, he will be a premier league player next season one way or another.

I still say Coventry were the best team I've seen us play this season. Was very surprised how long they spent at the bottom but they're on an absolute surge now. They'll make the playoffs imo.
Another player I don't think will do much in the PL.

Tbf, he was a thorn in our side when we played against them. Very physical, hard to get off the ball, good workrate and can score goals.

Nothing guaranteed, but I think he'd do alright in the Prem, as would Stewart and Goykes. Isn't he off for free in the summer if Blackburn don't sell at a cut down price in Jan?....I think anyone interested would pick up a canny bargain in Diaz......Even 12-15m for Goykes is peanuts these days for a Prem League club.

Knowing our luck we’d sign him and he’d turn out like Ola Toivenen:)

But realistically this is a non starter, Cov will do well to keep hold of him in Jan he is the sort of player I’d expect a Brentford to take a punt on

The only championship club Gyokeres would join would probably be Burnley - they could afford him, will almost certainly go up, and Komany looks like he's trying to build something that he could sell to potential signings.

We should be targeting this lad imo still young so fits the project of resale value . I thought he was top drawer vs us first game of the season. Maybe he is out of our budget but would be a real statement of intent

How on earth could we sign this lad?

Coventry are a really good side

I don’t think some fans grasp our current situation
