Despicable from his so called 'mate'. It was a joke (a pretty funny one to be fair), he's right when he saye 95%+ people would have done the same similar. Complete over-reaction too, from a clean record to sacked.

I remember a newspaper report on that match, possibly the Independent, regarding the lead up to that penalty - "Coloccini tackled Fletcher who went down with arms, legs and beard flailing"

It was a stupid mistake. I thought to be sacked was way over the top, considering his remorse at the time.
A suspension would have been fairer, with counselling or whatever.
Glad to see he's back.
 
Thought he was clearly miles above the standard of officiating whenever we had him in L1.

The opening day game at home to Wigan was a good example. The usual L1 referees never would have given the equalising penalty in a million years.
