Marty tweet- disappointing news on the way

Wow, that has come as a real shock. No idea what the circumstances may be but given he's a local lad, it suggests to me something quite serious and/or sensitive sadly. A real top bloke and performer though, a gent through and through and a DCCC legend in every sense of the word.

Not at all shocked but he'll go down as one of our very best. A lovely lad who summed up everything I love about Durham. Wish him all the very best for the future, a Durham legend. He will be massively missed.

Any inside info on the reasons? I am shocked but not as in the loop as you despite getting down to the Riverside quite regularly. Is it a money thing?

Hope everything is ok for the lad, first time I’d seen him live was last season when he played at the Park for Segga, Umar came down the wicket at him 2nd ball, the 3rd ball was a tad shorter and a yard quicker!! Is he going through a divorce?

I wonder if this has been affecting him for a while because he wasn’t the same this year, albeit there was an improvement towards the end of the season.

Remember only last season that he said he’d never leave Durham in an interview.

In the words of the great Ian McCulloch “Nothing Ever Lasts Forever”

I’m devastated and gobsmacked, possibly a little bit angry, selfishly, that he couldn’t have been clung onto - but I haven’t got a clue what the personal circumstances are and the most important thing in all of this is Rushy’s own well-being.

Feels like a dark dark day for the county this.

I'm pretty sure that was more to do with the combination of pitch and balls

With a year left on his deal I can't see that being the case

Aye. The club has been f*ing up alot recently.. We've never recovered from losing onions and it feels like lessons haven't been learnt

Fancy allowing Rushy to leave to go to another county. Absolute whoppers running this club.

I'd love to know what the personal reasons were, but there won't be any shortage of offers.
