things that wind you up in this country

In an island 900 miles long:

  • Rail services don’t work properly
  • You can’t get a static price for rail travel
  • Rail travel is too expensive
  • So you drive instead, the roads are in a shocking state of repair
  • There’s constant roadworks going on
  • In a 80 mile stretch of the M1 there’s 17 speed cameras
  • City driving charges
  • Car park charges
  • The amount of sign posts telling us what to and what not to do, we’re not that thick
  • Media spouting absolute bullshit on a daily basis
  • An one session with celebrity culture
  • A frowning culture of selfishness
  • Absolute shit food in supermarkets
  • The lack of quality independent food providers
  • The luck of independent food providers
  • The greed of land owners
  • The idiocy of councils
  • The intolerance of others peoples views
  • The woeful state of health care
  • Car parking charges in hospitals
  • The London-centric ideology the country runs on
  • Mags
  • Scousers
  • Brummies
  • Cockneys
  • Geordie Shore culture
  • Cancel culture
  • Freedom for anyone to own dogs
  • Taxes
  • Food, money, resource wastage
  • Unclean environment
  • Private rivers and water bodies
  • Insurance costs
  • Fuel costs
  • Beer costs
Cracking list.

The selfishness one is possibly the one which upsets me the most, just seems to be a massive, toxic 'me, me, me' culture embedded in society now.

It's when ****ers on social media post fake warm hearted/motivational/affectionate things about other people in order to ultimately gain attention and likes too. It is without doubt an amercian-demic off the back of 20 or so years of reality tv garbage plaguing our culture.

A frightening large percentage of the country care about no one but themselves these days.

…..that’s off the top of my head

Lists!! You forgot the obsession with lists ffs.

It's when ****ers on social media post fake warm hearted/motivational/affectionate things about other people in order to ultimately gain attention and likes too. It is without doubt an amercian-demic off the back of 20 or so years of reality tv garbage plaguing our culture.

Easily avoided.

In fact most things are discretionary or can be kept to a minimum.

I'm getting old but very little concerns me now. Pints are very expensive in some places but I pay when I have to. Some gigs are extortionate but I avoid them. not a big deal just the way it is.

I have more than I need to keep me interested and entertained until I die, so I don't get pissed off anymore.

People who stand in front of you in the bookies or lottery queue in shops.

Then ask the server to check if anything on their betting slip or lottery ticket, happens a lot

And every time there is fuck all to collect

Surely you know if you have won or not before going!!

Or and people who wish their partner on Facebook happy birthday half way during the day, when they would have woke up next to them on that very morning and would have said so then!

I just don't get that at all.

Folk wishing their partners or family members happy birthday on Facebook!!!

Just call them up FFS

" I love you hun". Well pick up the phone and tell em then you self absorbed, attention seeking cap end.

Can I also add people who use Facebook to air all their opinions and grievances?

The price of theatre tickets. Haven't been for years because of it. Would rather not go than pay for a cheap/shite seat. But all the best seats are just ridiculously extortionate, especially when we look for a family of 4. Pah!

I suspect - depending on the show - it's cheaper than the football.
