Burying your head in the sand and refusing to address the problem, of which the hundred is only the one aspect, thats what im hearing from you. The Hundred is a problem, why cant we say so?
Because, according to you, its not going anywhere. If we were to follow that logic, we won't be able to debate much. The Hundred is a problem. What's the point of a performance review to improve Test cricket without discussing all of the issues, problems and obstacles of which the Hundred is one and the penalty for not addressing it will be to negate the whole point of the review.
My view is, to support Test cricket means you need to support 1st class cricket which means to support the Championship which means the Counties. The Hundred must go, it has no place.
So we get a Cricket Circus. Not interested personally but future cricketers will still need the foundation that the Counties provide.
Again, you literally havent read what I just replied with, so whats the point of even having this conversation.
cheers for your great input of saying a competition which will not go, must go, very helpful
we can debate loads, the schedule was awful this year, you seem to have no interest in doing anything to help that, its like throwing the baby out with the bath water.
I just really really hope county chairman dont have the same view as people on here as we will end up with the same mess of a schedule we got this year.
we all dont want the 100...WE GET THAT.....do you have to repeat every time someone raises other issues?
I didnt say its going nowhere eventually, but it isnt for the next few years, that is the reality, if its gonna fail it will be at the end of this broadcasting deal if nobody was wathcing it, that could happen
in the mean time we still have county seasons to organise, why cant anyone grasp that??
So you literally have no interest at all in discussing how we can imporve county cricket untill the 100 goes?
What do we do in the mean time then?
Plenty of kids bunking off school to get down the Oval today! Saw plenty running around getting parents to buy merch, kissing the badge and stuff.
Yes they're excited because of the title, but it shows that kids do get heavily into red ball cricket.
Aye need some red ball cricket on in August in the next few years, its why I am not toally against the festival stuff, the county diehards will say its meaningless but if Durham are playing Yorkshire at Scarborough, I am going, and I think it would be class.
As I said above, until the 100 goes, which might or might not ever happen, we need to work (counties) and come up with a schedule that is better and more appealing. I find it very very frustrating that nobody is remotely interested in that, and I really hope the county chairman aren't taking this stubborn approach and working to find a good schedule, Strauss review makes a few interesting points that could be the starting block for something.
I dont agree with the reduction in CC games, however in short term could deal with a slight reducition, maybe to 12, if it meant other red ball stuff in the middle of the summer. I dont wanna go to Durham and watch red ball cricket in late September instead. I am sure I am not the only one.
What better way to show the 100 as a load of shite than getting a top county schedule that allows for good attendances, good cricket and to show off the product.
We aint gonna make changes and get rid of the 100 by just screaming like a baby and letting T20 games be played mid week at 2pm and county championship games in late september are we.
