Mowbray confirmed

I'm with you on the positive messages - but I disagree with the concept that the current team with some further additions today or tomorrow isn't good enough for a promotion push. I'd agree that automatic is a stretch, but 10th upwards will keep us in with a shout.
I've seen so much chod over the last 40 years and this team isn't chod. In fact, it's quite an exciting group of players - many with skill, some with huge potential and a smattering of experience thrown in. We're just a bit light in numbers that's all.
Yeah I actually completely agree with all that you're saying, I should've said expecting promotion. The team is extremely exciting with so much potential, if that potential gets unlocked we could fly.

I just can't be arsed with people kicking saying Mowbray has failed if we end up mid table because AN left us in 5th position. They're the ones I was referring to about being thick.

To be honest I was more scared of a so called name being appointed but we have someone more reliable and experienced at this level. Some of the names mentioned were never going to accept the job such as Dyche.

I think an important thing with Mowbray, as opposed to Manning or whoever, is that he knows the division and the other teams' strengths and weaknesses. In that sense, he can hit the ground running.
Having worked with Harvey, he could also be able in a position to identify 2-3 players who he rates and are not in other teams. If we could pick up an Evans or Baath for a small outlay, it would help us consolidate.

Has there been any news on backroom staff?

My new hobby of ranting stuff like “get a move on” on here (because there’s probably nobody suddenly available or breaking through that the owners need to interview (again) or approach and if they had any semblance of efficiency they’d already know who they could quickly appoint if a manager on a contract that enabled him to bugger off at a minutes notice actually errr… buggered off at a minutes notice) … has paid off and ‘tomorrow morning will do’ has been heeded.

Good luck Tony.

I can’t say if I’m either thrilled or disappointed because what the fuck do I know about selecting football coaches. I just wish the fella well and I’m glad it’s been done quickly

Should have been done yesterday though. Twats.
This will also apply to 99.9% of posters on here.
All we really have are opinions whether biased or otherwise. As SAFC supporters all we can do is trust the judgement of the powers that be and give managers a chance.
Good luck Tony.

Most SAFC fans' initial gut reaction on hearing Mowbray's name was disappointment, not the name we were looking for.

The bright side is he has a solid enough Championship record and realistically a couple of seasons stabilising in this league is probably all right.

Not many reasons to be hugely enthusiastic but at least we haven't had weeks of delay in naming a replacement so if he's any good we should see the benefit immediately

Maybe he’s a Mick Buxton (but maybe without the f***ing awful last stretch iirc) and he’ll be followed by a Peter Reid. I’d be ok with that. 😀

I’d be even better if he proved his critics wrong and was successful and well liked by the end of his tenure. So I wish him well.

Couple of other important things for me …
He’s been watching us for weeks so knows how we are playing already including strengths /weaknesses -hit the ground running hopefully
Lives local as well I believe so it may suit long term if he is a success -stability is good for both parties on that front.
Just read a quote from Corry Evans on Mowbrays appointment

I wonder if Evans was consulted about his appointment?
That sounds positive marra-especially as some were saying they had a “fall out “.
Evans has been superb this season(a real leader ) and to hear that is genuinely good

I hope Mowbray can put an end to the indiscipline issue created by AN.
If he can do that we can establish ourselves in the top half no problem.

Can't be arse to search if this has been posted or not. A VERY interesting read about Mowbray's footballing philosophy and why he's highly respected by the top managers in this country. Sounds miles away from the dinosaur people have tried to tar him as:
“I’d like to think I’m quite a humble guy. I just come to work and want my people, my staff, the players, the admin people around the building, the kit man, to enjoy it. You can hear me singing around the corridors sometimes or see me making tea for the receptionists. Happy people work happy.”

And Mowbray is not just a teacher of youth; he is a learner, too. “Through lockdown, I’ve tried to work on a growth mindset,” he says. “I hope I’ve always had one, but I must have listened to a million podcasts. My family home is on Teesside, so twice a week I’ll drive the two hours there and back, studying all the great managers who have ever done an audiobook or listening to the high-performance podcasts.

“I was Celtic manager not so long ago and it’s really interesting to hear insights from (Rangers manager) Steve Gerrard on how his brain works. He’s only a young manager, but it’s intriguing to listen to what makes him tick, what makes him angry, what he accepts and doesn’t accept. I find all that fascinating. You should never stop learning, growing, getting better, trying to improve.

“There’s plenty of stuff I’m not very good at, that I’m hopeless at, but my assistant has got amazing talents and qualities. Stuff around the board, the budget, the staffing issues, he sorts that out for me. What I bring is a passion for football and a desire to inspire footballers to love the game.”

Change your bloody avatar man
Better?

Catch a flight to New York as the AN situation became a reality.
Catching the flight back and Mowbray gets announced.

Got another flight in 2 weeks in case Mowbray position goes all Jack Ross and we need a new gaffer.
Roughly similar win percentage to Neil over his career. Haway.
Defo been trying to convince myself that it's a good appoi5 the last 2 days since it became a formality

That Blackburn message board doesn’t make great reading like.
But a few saying if you want mid table solid championship, he’s your man. After the last few years we’ve had, I’ll 100% take that and build for the future.
I thought we’d of got that under Neil but the bald bastard jumped ship.

Will he do a press conference today ..?
Or have I missed it
