Complete opposite for me mate. Was a coach from my team being U7s up to U18s and Sunderland were one of the most prominent. Same age group as Dan Neil and Bali MumbaMy lad been playing 9/10 yrs, always been spoke about by various managers, coaches, parents etc how little of Sunderland you see around.
I get what you are saying but the evidence points to something different. In Greenwood, Neil, Stephenson, Hugill, Pye and 4 or 5 others we have clearly scouted the best in the region as they have all left for top Premier League teams. Similarly the new U15's are national champions and are seemingly a really top group, quite a few from North of the Tyne. The evidence would suggest our youth football scouting has been excellent. The unfortunate thing is that Stewart Donald saw this as a great way of raising cash.It was the same before they came. Always Boro and Newcastle scouts about. Hardly ever see/seen Sunderland.
Aye mate. My son's best mate plays for Silky.
They aren't a team of players released from clubs. Far from it mate.

Probably North of the Tyne to pick up their lads?It was the same before they came. Always Boro and Newcastle scouts about. Hardly ever see/seen Sunderland.
Aye a couple, not all are players who have been released by clubs. Majority haven't been to academies. Some real talent knocking about. You said they had lads playing for them who’ve been released from Boro?
They know who the scouts are. They don't have to be wearing bog coats with badges on manIf a player is good enough he will be picked up by an academy by any of the clubs around here.
Because you cant seem them in their big Sunderland coats does not mean they are there - it means they just dont rate the kids they are watching compared to the kids they have in the academy at that age group. Its as simple as that.

Ok.And how many have been signed to pro deals.. I know full well the best players in the region are known by the club in grassroots football - the club musnt rate the players youre mentioning or they are not better than what we have/had.
Interesting to see not only Rigg but Watson on the bench. Watson is only 16 and scored a hattrick against Boro on Saturday. Will be interesting to see if Thompson gets amongst the goals as he has started very well. You must be logged on to see media items
Played a couple of times last season as well if I remember correctlyInteresting to see not only Rigg but Watson on the bench. Watson is only 16 and scored a hattrick against Boro on Saturday. Will be interesting to see if Thompson gets amongst the goals as he has started very well.
Ellis Taylor is also 19 and on loan at a league 2 club there is a sheer gulf in standard between him and Spellman. Brandon Taylor, Owen Gamble, Jake Hackett all played for us around that age in some form in the last few years and the highest level they are at now is the northern league, most of our academy players are there to make the numbers up. The new lad from Burnley will be the next one to be with the first team along with Rigg.
And what was that information?Looks like it was correct the information I got regarding Max Thompson. Expect him and Rigg to both be on the bench in the not so distant future.
And what was that information?
Blimey heck you are hard work. You love nowt better than giving half a story. You could just say what you were told, it is of interest to me an others. For me, if Thompson is pushing for a first team spot, as 6 goals in 2 games would suggest, then the recruitment team deserve more credit. So much of what they have to do is repair the damage of Stewart Donald. If we had kept Greenwood or Hugill we wouldn't need to get someone like Thompson. SImilarly the lads we pick up from other Academies are often cast offs for a reason. So if Thompson has genunie potential to make it at Championship that is a massive boost and something to be applauded.Look at the message I quoted.

Tom Watson possibly? You could of just looked at the quoted comment...
The plan for him is to be on the bench a few times until January and to gain more loan interest which will then push an attacker from the u18 up into the 23s - unsure who they plan to do that with as of yet.
Still a few days to to I guess. Think he will need to go on loan like as I think bond and Richardson are too old for 18s . So will end up with 3 keepers fighting for 1 spot and that seems a bit heavy. Only really Watson who it could be that I can think of.What's happened to Carneys loan? Thought he was going north of the border for some experience? Done well last night.
Tom Watson possibly?
