Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

If TM is so fab why wasn't he snapped up by some of the other other floundering giants - out of work no compo etc?
His record is distinctly average and I think he could well be another dinosaural disaster along the lines which we've had our fill over the last decade. Speakman & co have gone with someone they know will not rock the boat.

We should back him to the hilt if he is chosen but i think we've chosen the Sunderland way again i.e. managed mediocrity, ran by a board with no love for the city or club and nothing but self-preservation in mind.
Why was Neil out of work for nearly a year and had to drop down to league one? Now he's irreplaceable.

Barry at Chelsea would have fit our remit perfect imo. Manning also.
Both are I think a little above us at the moment.
We got Alex Neil because he was out of work and needed to put himself in the shop window.
We'll get mowbray because he's out of work and probably at 58 doesn't care about his reputation-theres little risk for him.
The risk for either of the two you mention is joining a club with a recent history of instability, potentially being out of work in 9 months and suffering reputational damage.
Mowbray is at the other end of his career, so damage wouldn't matter so much if it goes wrong.
