Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

Neil was happy to sign 2 contracts offered by SAFC then rejected another when Stoke came calling. You may have an argument about the third offer not being enough but Neil considered the first two entirely acceptable so their efforts to secure him initially and renew 4 weeks ago surely have some merit ?

You're right. I'm just surmising if I'm being honest. Has the club got the money to pay a top manager, is the question? Apparently the average Championship manager's salary was about £900k a year and the highest at £3.5m in 2020 (Source: Daily Mail article)

For all those wanting and trying to convince themselves that Mowbray is God and plays attacking football then please see the review left by a Blackburn fan last night...I'm sure someone can dig it out.
It will he is a shocking appointment and if true shows Speakman is a complete liar as he says the last time we needed a manager identified a lot of talent.....Mowbray?
Can't wait to have the proverbial took out of me some more by the mags!!
For a forum that has a history of dismissing “itk” posters out of hand, we do seem to be pinning a lot on this one random self proclaimed Blackburn fan’s opinion.

I have always hated the ****, boring as fuck but lets get real i suppose. We are never going to attract any manager that gets our pulses racing. We have just been promoted from the horrible league 1. Just another step in getting us to where we need to be.

This board is getting beyond ridiculous. The amount of pathetic whinge bags is unbelievable.
The way people go on, you'd think we are established in the top half of the premier league.

We've just spent 4 years in League One and got up via the playoffs.

And people are turning your nose up at an established manager at this level? He is known for playing a similar shape to what we are recruited for, developing young talent and almost got Blackburn into the playoffs last year. If he does come in, then give the fucker a chance.

Fancy outlining his strengths just for a bit of balance?
Well, I did that in a post in the other thread but ill do a quick summary.

Main strengths are that he likes to play attractive attacking football. Most of the signings he made were good/decent. Dack Armstrong, Brereton Diaz etc. He has good connections with Liverpool and City (often gets good loans from them) as he gives them plenty of game time and develops them well. Harvey Elliott and Tosin Adebayo are now established PL first-teamers after spending a season with us and doing well. The players seem to like him as well - rarely any issues there. The players seem to like him too - rarely any issues there.

The other strength is that he loves developing and bringing through the kids. Last season 8 of our first team had come through the academy. 2 have just walked though (Lenihan to Boro and Nyambe to Wigan). He is a better coach than many give him credit for, especially with the youngsters.

Anyhow, there's more in my main post in the other thread. Basically he is a proper football man and i think he will have you midtable this season. Solid pair of hands. Maybe not one for the long term. Struggles to break into the playoffs (at least he did with us).

Surely if he’s announced in the next 24 hours, he’ll be in the dugout on Wednesday.

Hope so anyways, can’t be having Dodds and Proctor standing around and doing fuck all.

Just check the post where someone put comments from the thread around Neils appointment-some people you would think would have learned to give a new manager a chance at least after previous comments backfired spectacularly.

This dinosaur crack is lifting mind.

At what age do you become a dinosaur like?

Ranieri won the prem at 65
Sarri - 63
Mourinho - 59
Klopp - 55
Hasenhuttl - 55
Conte - 53
Ten Haag - 52

Can't imagine many people would be calling these lot dinosaurs if we appointed them.
Agreed, although Mourinho was often labelled a dinosaur on here when he was at Man U.
