Burnley want Alex Neil

In hindsight, he will have definitely been in the frame for the Burnley job.

I don't think it will have been a case of Burnley wanting Neil (that's pretty obvious), but Neil very much wanting the Burnley job.

What a twat. He thought it was beneath him dropping down to league one, based on his credentials perhaps it was. He won't manage a bigger club in England imo.
In terms of what we traditionally judge club size on, he definitely won’t

There’s only Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man C, Spurs, Chelsea, Everton, Villa and Newcastle who are bigger in those terms. And Chelsea only because of the last 20 years spending power.

But modern footballers and managers don’t particularly care about the traditional view of club size.

It’s about money, location, transfer budget, current league position and the working conditions they’ll be under.
@becs suggested something was perhaps not right as far back as April.
link?

But that begs the question, why sign a new contract just recently if things are not right?

Nail on the head. Our fans in particular will say 'Why's he going to a smaller club' but size of the club counts for little when you judge working conditions, squad, transfer budget etc as you say.

We all know contracts mean fuck all. And he had that get out clause anyway.
Contracts mean someone gets paid compensation, usually us paying it. For once it’s the other way around. Good point about having a clause in a recently signed contract. It appears he wanted more money now until an even bigger offer came in. Short sighted though… if he had stayed and continue to do well, who’s to say a bigger offer wouldn’t have come in? Now he’s stuck at f***ing Stoke for 3 years.

He probably has a clause in his contract with Stoke with pre agreed compensation if a bigger set of mugs make him a better offer, screw him if that’s his style he’s going to be very limited by the number of clubs who would take a chance on him
