Tony Mowbray Rumour

Don't you think the team deserve our support? They've been fantastic. I will back this team whoever is the next manager
My mates have paid £795 to sit where we sit, they can do whatever they want. I’ll be there but I’m not going to judge people who decide not to go. Mowbray isn’t an appointment that’s going to get people flocking on a Wednesday night against Rotherham.

Who on earth do you expect to appoint to get people to flock to the game on Wednesday - Morinho, Keane, Wenger? - get realistic man!

Doesn't seem a great write up here mind after finishing 8th...

Was starting to come round to the idea until I read that. The below from one poster is particularly scary:

“Things I definitely don't thank him for:

Bizarre tactical decisions - round pegs in square holes, taking forever to realise when something or someone wasn't working, playing favourites and seemingly ostracising others, etc

Antagonising the fans with sly remarks, and being petulant when questioned

Sticking around way past his time despite saying he would resign if he was a burden

Horrendous second half of the season collapses, including pissing away our best chance of promotion since Venkys

Some poor signings, including an obsession with ex-Boro players and signing his mate's shit son

Misallocating his budgets in strengthening the wrong areas of the squad (no defenders for ages even when he said they were coming, spending 7 million, most of our budget, on a future project striker, collecting excessive amounts of players in one area of the pitch whilst neglecting others, etc)

Not bringing youth players out for dead rubber games on the scale it should be done

Being complicit in the blatant lies about the training ground plans, and being far less honest than is constantly made out

An abysmal attitude, at times, on the touchline and in pressers, that made it look like he didn't give a fuck

Relying too much on loanees even whilst saying we needed to build for the longer term

Extremely premature cup exits, every time

Overall, just not being good enough to take us to that next level (adding to this, blaming resources for it when teams like Barnsley and Luton have made the playoffs ahead of us and don't have a shining academy or our budget, and having made remarks that he turns down extra funds)”

I actually think it’s fine reading, got them promoted and stabilised them in the championship. We need some stability that we can build on to push into the playoffs, I don’t think he’s the man to get us promoted back to the prem but we’re not ready for that as a squad/club either.

Likelihood we could do with his services for a couple of years until we bring in a prem level manager to help us consistently finish top 6.

Probably is the right appointment given our situation.

Ticks the boxes of likes to play attacking football, recent experience of decent Championship results, seems to like working with younger players. In terms of managerial record it's fairly similar to Neil.

There is something underwhelming about it though.

I'm not keen on either but surely Mowbray's recent record is better than Warnock's and I couldn't see Warnock working under Speakman.

I don't want either of them mate, but I know Warnock speaks nothing but good of us whilst Mowbray has said some shit about us in the past.

I want a younger manager who can work within the model that's set up at the club, not an old hat that probably won't like hoe things are down here now....theres no real long term goal in bringing the likes of Mowbray in, in my opinion.

Hearing alot of fans saying Mowbray hates sunderland? Anar he's a boro fan but is there more to him apparently "hating" us? Can someone explain if so
